AEOI: Iran May Need 56-Percent Enriched Uranium

Director of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoun Abbasi said in Tehran today that Iran may need to obtain uranium enriched up to 56 percent, Fars News Agency reported. Abbasi added Iran has no current plan to enrich beyond 20 percent, “but in some special cases like ship and submarines, where we must manufacture small engines, it requires fuel enriched up to 56 percent.” (Fars Nrews Agency, 16 April)

This is the first time that an Iranian official discusses the possibility that Iran may need to go beyond the 20-percent enrichment.

All excuses to build the bomb.

So, there is a solution:
In order to alleviate that "excuse", the West(US) or China should provide Iran with a technology to built engines (light water reactors), for ships and submarines, which will make possibilities of longer endurances.

If not, "the excuse" is a reasonable one.

Glad to hear, this is exactly the sort of message iran needs to send the west, the longer it takes to accept irans right to enrich, the longer it takes to say yes to a deal, the more sanctions that are inflicted then the greater the likelihood that 20% enrichment will be the least of the wests nuclear worries, iran must raise the stakes rather than being passive, the west must see that the longer they delay the higher the cost of any deal will be

Iran should go for 90% plus option and do it on a mega-industrial scale. Time to quit pussy-footing around. DPRK is the poster child for the perpetual middle-finder at the US club. If you have nukes the hyenas stay away and howl from a distance and then run with their tails tucked in. The current world is run on the rule of the jungle too and Iran should resort back to its historic Persian Lion stance.

I'm afraid the Persian Lion is very angry at the mullah regime when they decided to remove his presence from the original flag.

If iran wanted the bomb it would have it,its that simple there would be sweet f#ck all the usraelis/nato axis could do to stop it

actually if Iran starts assembling nukes , the Us and NATO could simply blow up the assembly points, the entire Iranian military, and pretty much anything else in Iran they wished to blow up.

that sweet enough for you, dummy?

Anon 11:41PM,You have made perfect conclusion:

"the WEST MUST SEE THAT THE LONGER THEY DELAY THE HIGHER THE COST OF ANY DEAL WILL BE".

you`re assuming that the us would even know were irans nuclear weapons would be being assembled. The us is in no position to fight yet another war in the region, especially against an opponent as strong as iran and it knows it,thats why it keeps on making the same empty threats but does nothing
