A
moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 in magnitude struck eastern Iran on
Wednesday, 48 miles north-northeast of Birjand, the U.S. Geological Survey
reported. Five people are confirmed dead and more than 10 injured. The
earthquake struck at 8:38 pm local time.
