"Branches of government". How cute! The "executive branch" is headed by the Supreme-Leader-for-Life who can only be a Shia male cleric and who cannot be popularly elected. The pseudo-parliament (aka Majles) can have its "laws" rescinded by the Council of Guardians, which consists of 6 Shia male clerics and 6 Shia male religious law specialists (appointed by the Supreme-Leader-for-Life and the pseudo-parliament; in turn, the Council of Guardians determines who can and cannot run for "president" (which can only be a Shia male) and the Majles. They have in the past disqualified scores of sitting "Majles members" from running). The so-called "judiciary" again consists only of males. Moreover, Ttere are no non-Khomeinists whatsoever in any branch of the Islamist regime. Emam famously proclaimed "Eghtesad mal-e khar ast". I think we can now add, "Siasat mal-e gaav, goosaleh va goosfand ast".

What does a Western democracy mean?
Is it a Hyde Park and amount of money and color of somebody skin and believing in their faked gods and the zionism?
For what does one need an US democracy?
Do people come to US for love of their system or for money they love ?
Where are the biggest dissidents?
Are J. Assange, Manning and Snowden as well as others, or L. Farakhan and Malcolm X dissidents too, or maybe there are no dissidents in the West and they have criminals only?.

Genius, it is a system called "Velayet-e Faqih" (Guardianship of the Religious Jurist), which means that lice-ridden mollahs can be the only Leaders of the country (until the Hidden Emam returns!)

BTW, were you one of those geniuses who saw Khomeini's face in the moon? Please advise.

Western democracy means that Groupies, propagandists, lobbyists, and gofers for regimes that chant "Death to America", "Death to this, death to that" day and night can live there and spout off whatever political opinion they want to, no matter how hostile to their Western host countries.

Last time I looked the iranian people had a larger choice of candidates than the people in the us did,and who do you think decides on the candidates in the us,why the 2 political parties do,as for freedom of speech I think you`ll find that most western nations far from having laws that gaurentee it have laws that restrict it,next time you`re in austria or germany and dare to deny the holocaust see what happens to you,as for lobbyists your good friend israel seems to have a corner on that market in the us apart from americas new terrorist best friend[and yours perhaps?] the mek

Khamenei got precisely what he wanted out of the election, a fellow cleric by his side, a fake reformist, but a true conformist to implement Khameneis will. Very cunning campaigning on the part of Khamenei's camp. Khamenei truly wasn't hoping for another nationalistic/deviationist type, Ahmadinejad-like character or someone with the same policies, for example Jalili. The population got duped big time.

Anon 11:46 AM.....Do the Iranian people have a choice to vote out the present supremo of Iran, namely Khamenei?
No they don't,that's because there is no real democracy in Iran. Only the superficial one of "voting" in a candidate of the dictators choice. It's the supremo who is in charge of the security forces. It's the supremo that can overrule the "president" like he were a tea boy.
So what ever the case in the US the supreme leader can be voted out of office and even impeached as was Nixon.
To deny the holocaust is very niave or outright insult to the six million plus human beings that were slaughterd by the murderous NAZI regime.

Here are couple messages, to those who hold delusions about President Rouhani position:
Mr. Rouhani said earlier that "...Syria serves as a critical frontlaine against israel..."
And a zionist author Ron Ben-Yishai, from Ynetnews, has published an article titled "Beware of Rohani's trap".

Some arguments by the West's symphatizers, that the vote by young people for Rouhani, is a vote for the "Western" orientation can be neutralized by a way, that most of young people's votes, who voted for Mr. Chavez were against West and that the West lied when they claimed an election fraud....and support of those young people.

Delusional might be a correct description of the mindset of the extreme right, people like the commentator using the codename A-F, who thought the Iranian people should, and probably would elect Jalili. But Jalili got only 11% of the votes, notwithstanding strong support he received from Mesbah and his close association with the supreme leader. Now instead of admitting how far off he was politically from the Iranian people, how removed he was from the realities of Iran, he wants to cover hisanger at the election result by claiming others are delusional. I am not good in the use of symbols here, but a HARD laugh symbol is in order!
