Massacre at Camp Ashraf

Iraqi security forces today attacked Camp Ashraf, a base for a group of unarmed members of Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO or MEK), massacring 47 people, including 9 patients at its clinic. Many experts believe that the attack was a coordinated action by the Iraqis and the Iranian government’s IRGC Quds Force (IRGC-QF).

Ashraf Camp, as well as Camp Hurriyah (formerly Camp Liberty) in the outskirts of Baghdad, which also houses unarmed MKO militants, is supposedly under the protection of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI). There was no immediate reaction to the massacre by the Iraqi authorities.

Blogger’s Note: Our condolences go out to the families, friends and comrades of the victims of this massacre and those who were injured in today’s attack. The Iraqi government is responsible for the well being of the injured and the safety of all the residents at Ashraf and Hurriyah.

Cost of being treacherous scum. US/Zionists and Saddam used these Rajavi morons and now have abandoned them. All all these MKO vermin will be eradicated. Iraq is fed up with their prostitution and begging. If the US loves them so much, why not give them asylum and apartments in Jew York and Tehrangelis where they will fit in fine?

These people were responsible for at least 70% of the Bombings in Iraq. The Iraqis had enough.
What is the big fuss, they were terrorists and it was high time for the crimes of the 80,s.

maybe is it better to issue an amnestie
and repartiate these poor people.

My heart and thoughts are with the family and friends of these unfortunate fellow Iranians caught inthe crossfire of Iraq violent political and ethnic hostilities. It is heart breaking to see them being slaughtered so violently in the dust and dirt of Iraq. They may be politically misguided, and may have inadvertently done their country more damage than good, but as fellow human beings they deserve our respect, sympathy and compassion. RIP

Mr Uskowi,
Could you please refer to any evidence that you might have that shows the Iranian government / Qods force was behind the attack?

Anonymous said...

I never supported the MKO but what the Iraqi "security forces" have done shows what a bunch of low life scum they are.The spiteful and anti-human regime in Tehran ordered this execution and their Iraqi lackies obliged.

You've read my analysis regarding the IRGC-QF. Would you give me yours? Was it a mass suicide?

Anonymous said...

Most certainly.
No it was not a mass suicide.
To begin with, I am not a supporter of the IRI
1- You have written in your "Analysis" that : "Many experts believe that the attack was a coordinated action by the Iraqis and the Iranian government’s IRGC Quds Force (IRGC-QF)"
Who are these experts?

The reports that I have read so far says :
The IRGC has expressed its happiness about the incident and killing of the MKO members. (Not a very nice statement but understandable given the mutual hate between the two parts)
The US and UN have condemned the attack.
The Iraqis have denied that the Iraqi Army has attacked the camp.
There are some reports about shelling of the camp from the outside (Doesn't say which group was responsible and some Fuel tanks exploding and possibly causing some of the casualties) and then some reports about the MKO members in the camp responding to the shelling and fire from the Iraqi Army soldiers stationed outside the camp possibly killing some of the MKO members inside the camp.

Finally the MKO lost every once of credibility the moment they decided to join Saddam and attack Iran and kill innocent Kurds as Saddam's lackies in the aftermath of the first Golf war. (Everything has been recorded by human rights groups and even the Americans)
Personally although I don't think the attack was the right thing to do, I do not feel sorry for anybody who betrays their country and people like Rajavi and co did.
Now can we please read your source / Information that it was the IRI who attacked the camp and not just your "Analysis" ?
Thank you.

This post was not in defense of Mujahedeen as an organization, but an outcry against the massacre of unarmed MKO members who are under the protection of the UN. Your opposition to what they might have done in the past should not stop you to protest against what happened at Ashraf.

My analysis is based on decades of being a student of Iran and following the IRGC-QF and ministry of intelligence involvements in extraterritorial assassinations and killings of Iranian opposition, not limited to MKO, but also including Bakhtiar, the Kurdish leaders, and many more examples. The Iranians did not officially take responsibility for any of those killings, and I assure you that they will not take responsibility for this latest massacre. That’s not how they operate.

BTW, what is your analysis? Who could enter a guarded camp and massacre so many people?

Anonymous said...

Can you prove that the MKO is "responsible for at least 70% of the bombings in Iraq" or are you just saying that because you're just a little filler for the regime? And by the way, when it comes to "crimes of the 80s" the regime (the real terrorists) murdered tens of thousands of young people by the use of special execution squads.

I don't support MKO.

Anonymous said...

Anon 10:09 AM.....It was the IRI masters and their Iraqi minions who executed these people.
What part of it you don't understand?

Anonymous said...

This is an issue that differentiate those Iranians who left Iran right at the outbreak of the revolution and those who stayed and fought the war, and then left.

The MKO might have meant well at the beginning like many other movements, but they were the only ones who sold their soul to the devil.

Their betrayal is simply unforgivable, no matter how you want to twist and turn it.

The US legitimising them was simply to be able to relocate them as non terrorists, but no one doubts and no one trusts a group that sells its own people for less that 30 sil....

They are in the way of Iran, and they shall one day cause immense damage if not eliminated for good.

Just an opinion.

This people massacred Iranian prisoners of war during the Iran-Iraq war...I am glad they are now getting a taste of their own medicine.

Anonymous said...

THEN WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING THEM

Anonymous said...

The terrorists got what was coming to them, these people represented a clear and present threat to iran and they had allied themselves with the west to attack iran, they deserve no sympathy

Anonymous said...

These people were indoctrinated dangerous terrorists.
Whoever did this, has simply done what the USA has been doing for ages.
Exterminating terrorists. What did they think would happen to them when they stepped into this path.

Anonymous said...

They might be MKO, but they are still Iranians.

I cannot approve of unarmed people.

Anonymous said...

Mr Uskowi,
Thank you for confirming again that this is your "analysis" only and at the moment there is no evidence that IRI or its Qods force carried out the attack.
My analysis is that there are elements / groups of the current Iraqi establishment (Shias and Kurds) that have not forgotten the atrocities committed by the MKO towards them and they have enough reason to do such a thing. These groups can very well have links with / direct support / backing of the IRI

By the way I don't remember you going out of your way to condemn the Israelis
(As a student of ME history, I doubt it that you don't think it was the Israeli Intelligence services who did it) for the killing of Iranian Nuclear scientists or sending your condolences to their family and friends.

They are not Iranians. The moment they moved to Iraq, and started to help Saddam and attack the Iranian soil they became traitors.
I have had dealings with these people and believe me all of you who feel sorry for them, had they taken the power in Iran, you all would have wished a hundred times every day, that the Mullahs were still in power and "Velayate Faghih" would have seemed 10 times more democratic than their rule
These people are a brainwashed cult who would blindly follow every single order from their "beloved" Massoud without questioning the morality or legality of it.
The killings of the Iraqi Shias and Kurds ordered by Rajavi and carried out by his followers after the first Gulf war is just one example.

Anonymous said...

If not terminated, these MKO shall one day act as the so called "opposition" that demands and begs for Irans bombardment one day as the Iraqi and Syrian so called oppositions have done and are doing
The Americans having been disappointed by the Royalists for being too patriotic decided to rent these scums as saddam once did.
So lets not shed any crocodile tears for a bunch of delusional complex riddled traitors whoes termination probably saved many Iraqi lives and not to forget Iranian lives to come.
There are still a few hundred out there usually bused around NewYork by an NGO affiliate of AIPAC and presented as demonstrators when Iranian delegations come to visit.

Nader Uskowi said...

The interesting aspect of your comment is your total lack of shame in using concepts such as “termination” of human beings.

Nader Uskowi said...

Are you justifying mass killings and massacres because you are opposed to and hate the Mujahedeen? Then why has the civilization created concepts such as genocide to signify inhumanity? If we had the license to ‘eliminate” those we opposed or hated, world would have been a much worst place.

Nader Uskowi said...

I wish the killers of those 47 unarmed members of MKO had the same regard to due process as you seem to advocate.

Yossarian said...

Uskowi, he just sounds like you typical American, talking about Middle Eastern people in general.

Anonymous said...

I don't hate MKO. I do not wish for them to be eliminated, but put on trial to receive a fair sentence for their atrocities committed during Saddam's reign, as for those responsible (In Iran) for the mass executions of its members in Iran after the revolution.

I have simply expressed my opinion based on my observations and discussions, and with members of this sect in Europe and US and reading their publications.

On another note, (And I am sure you Mr Uskowi after decades of studying Iranian and ME History and living in the US know this very well:

The so called "civilization" is relative like everything else in this world.
The same Civilization and "Civilized" countries can justify maiming and mass killings when it serves their Agenda. The only difference is if it is directed toward their own citizens or the citizen's of other parts of the world.

Anonymous said...

Mr Uskowi,

You are using polemic to avoid pointing to the fact that this organization have committed crimes in Iraq and are unwanted in that country and the fact that there are groups in Iraq who would like to see them killed / leave Iraq with or without the support of the IRI.
I am not advocating anything and insinuations do not help your argument.

Do you acknowledge the crimes (Killings of the Shia and Kurds) by the MKO after the first Gulf war (which has been documented by the Iraqis / the US and UN)or are you going to avoid answering it with your usual excuse that the subject of this post was not a discussion about that?

If the answer is yes, then my question to you is:
Do you believe that their leaders / people responsible for carrying Saddam's orders should be put on trial?

Anonymous said...

I feel bad seeing these images. BUT lets not forget they killed 6 scientists in Iran. Are they really innocent?

Anonymous said...

Don't be so angry! There was no need for the Iraqi scum to execute MKO members. They could have just deported them.

Anon 1:09 PM

You seem to have forgotten that the real "terrorists" are the ones that have occupied and are continuing to rape Iran.

A society based on killing and revenge is a society that is doomed.

Anonymous said...

Which would you prefer:eradicated,liquidated,retired,removed,cleaned,etc...or perhaps just killed.Treason is a dangerous business and one who plays that game should realise that they are gambling with their lives. These people were a clear and present threat, and if that sounds too american for you then its just too bad, they needed to be dealt with and the sooner the better, iran is better off and a safer place thanks to their removal

Anonymous said...

In a perfect world these people would have been returned to iran to stand trial for their crimes, however the world is far from perfect

Anonymous said...

Anon 8:47 AM

By applying your way of thought then by "eradicting" and "liquidating","retiring", "removing" or just simply "killing" the mullahs will make Iran a much more "better off" and "safer place" thanks to their removel.

Wouldn't you agree now?

Anonymous said...

Have you any proof that the MKO killed those six scientists?

Anonymous said...

Yes, I agree with you that they (MKO) turned to be Zionist's puppets or even worst.

Anonymous said...

No they are not. They are guns for hire. In the case of the Iranian nuclear scientists, most likely hired by the Israelis.

MKO Killed Neda (was a middle aged woman shooting from her handbag) & more than half those killed during that time
MKO "helped" kill all the scientists, who do you think does all the logistics ??
MKO are being trained in Camp liberty to infiltrate Iran with new names and start buying houses and apartments where they can service it as safe houses..etc etc
Come on dude dont insult anyones intelligence here

Anonymous said...

I bet if they were Palestinians or Shia Lebanese everybody would be in a frenzied outcry. The Iraqis are low life scum and they deserved the US invasion.Let the Iraqi Shia and Sunni blow themselves up.Just stay away from Iran because the mullahs will pay for all their crimes one day.

Although it might to you,the vast majority of iranians would not support your views,I know this is intolerable to a malcontent such as yourself but none the less this is the way it is,also there is little comparison between the mek and the government of iran if you cant see that then you must be a very very blind malcontent indeed, but since you hate the current system it doesnt surprise me that you would support the mek

Anonymous said...

You silly boy! Next time read my text! I said, "By applying your way of thought"

And lets get this clear, you don't talk on behalf of "the vast majority of iranians" and secondly when it comes to "intolerable" the mullahs and their minions like yourself qualify for that sonny boy.

Anonymous said...

My views are far more representative of the iranian majority than the "down with the system" views of a professional malcontent like yourself who has more in common with terrorists like the mek and that is what I think people like yourself find truly "intolerable" that they are in the minority

A nationalist thinks to be better than others around him/her because of being born in a certain area !

A patriot however, is someone who loves and upholds his home and culture and tries to be better than the rest but respects and recognises others !

Iranians should be Patriots and not nationalists. (Arabs and Jews are nationalists next to Germans and Japanese and etc.)

Brits and French are Patriots and this is amongst others their secret to success.

Religious difference are a political tool thrown amongst illiterate peoples to preoccupy and cause wars as they get robbed of their resources.

Those who propagate such cheap Arab-Ajam crap or Shia -Sunni ultra crap is/are either one of them (thieves) or one of those illiterate peoples mentioned.

I tip on the latter.

Anon 4:29 PM......Do yourself a favour next time and look up a dictioanry instead of fabricating nonsense in your head!

Nationalism equals feeling patriotic. Both words have the same meaning!

Patriot,Patriotic..one who is devoted to and ready to defend his country.Greek word (Patris) for Fatherland.

Nationalism..Patriotic feeling or principles or efforts;policy of national independence:Nationalist !

The problem is that, you have mixed up the word Nationalist with National Socialism Party of Germany, the NAZI Party! That is classed as Political Extremism.

Extremism can also be applied to religion and regimes like the one in Iran occupied by Zealots (religious extemists, fanatics and crackpots).

But I suppose in your mind those fanatical lunatics are the best thing since sliced bread for Iran and need to be supported from afar whilst sitting safely and comfortably in good old London town, right?

It seems that around 10 members of MKO in Camp Ashraf have been taken away by the people who attacked the camp. This was not reported first. The MKO did not report it.
Iranian officials have mentioned it on two occasions and one of the speakers of the US State Dep. has asked Iran to use its influence in Iraq to have them released.
