Senate Tightens Iran Sanctions

The U.S. Senate by a vote of 94-0 approved new sanctions on Iran’s energy, port, shipping and shipbuilding sectors. The new package of sanctions was approved as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. It builds on existing U.S. sanctions and provides additional tools to impede the progress of Iran’s nuclear program.

The legislation also attempts to close a loophole that has allowed some purchasers of Iranian oil and natural gas to use gold and other precious metals to pay for petroleum products.

These steps are roughly analogous to Germany's u-boat war against Britain. The aim is very similar: by economic means to achieve the surrender of the targeted country, force a regime change and force recognition of the imposing country's regional hegemony.

Iran wants to remain an independant country free from fraudalent tactics of the IMF zombie banksters who weigh down the newly subdued country with burdening debts which is akin to a hostage with shackles around his feet.

A new sell-out regime in Iran would gladly position itself under the heel of the goldman sachs et al and then Iran's fate will forever be sealed as it will become a puppet whose strings can be pulled by its jewish masters in Tel Aviv and by powerful jewish lobby groups in the US for all eternity.

The Iranian population already had to deal with the friggin Shah, they were tired of his mismanagement, policies, and for allowing western influence to permeate their pious culture and way of life, hence why the revolution took place in 1979.

And now we hear and read statements by utter fools who are longing for another "shah" type of ruler, however if and when a regime change takes place, they will be horrified when they discover that the Shah was actually an angel compared to the kind of peeps that will flood back to Iran, each one a wannabe dictator happy to do the bidding of the Americans and Jews. Ridiculous!!!

US is a deadbeat bankrupt in TOTAL DECLINE and has almost no trade, economic, social, diplomatic, educational or political ties with Iran. So what impact will these impotent sanctions have since Iran has gradually been under sanctions since 1979 and has still endured?. US is a marginalized LOSER in the new Asia centric world.

yup, genius, that certainly explains why China voted to sanction iran, time after time.

and it explains why Japan and South Korea are going along with the sanctions against iran.

and it sure explains why India is paying for oil with crops rather than dollars.

mighty Iranian superpower, leader of Asian world, most respected and sanctioned nation in all of universe, is doing really well.

and when the sugar runs out, folks can sweeten their tea with crude oil.

If you ever make it to junior high(which I doubt), you may be able to read that Iran-China annual trade in in excess of $120 billion and Iran's FOREX reserves stand at over $150 Billion. China and Asia pay lip-service to US rants.

US is a bankrupt deadbeat indeed, with a decaying economy and is pawned to over $17 TRILLION deficit and declining economy that offers nothing but warmongering while over 66 million scrounge in poverty and foodstamps. Get off FOX news ignorance and read some real FACTS.

US is actually roaring back, anon. Look at economic date instead of spouting ignorant claims. That's exactly what FOX News does.

according to the new draft sanction Its Illegal to do business with PressTV !?!? WTF how on earth US is intending to curtail Iranian Nuclear Aspirations by shutting down alternative MEDIA It was Just six weeks ago that we had to defend freedom of expression when the world asked us to shut the crazy egytian coptic who made Innocence of Muhammad !talk about American Double Standards!!!!

The level of pain caused by the sanctions against Iran appears to be directly proportional to the level of pain/hate in the comments here........sounds like Iran is hurting pretty badly!

Is it true that Bushehr nearly blew apart a few months ago???

Anonymous 8:39 AM. You're right. It is a case of double standards. In the Eu and the USA, led by its master Israel, so-called "freedom of expression" only matters when it is against muslims and Israel's enemies. For them, it is a weapon to use against countries like Iran and Syria.

How many jews is in the present US' senate and what is a percentage of "jewish" population in the US?

@ Jay

Sure US is roaring back in propaganda, violence, warmongering and hyperbole with a brainwashed, ignorant and violent population while 1 in 3 children now live in poverty and the deadbeat manufacturing sector now accounts for less than 8% of the bankrupt economy as China heads to world's number ONE SPOT.

Perhaps, Economic Facts are not something that are available at braindead high in the growing slums and urban ghettos. Even most deadbeat Americans can't afford FOX cable news anymore.LOL.

Even the US birthrate is in decline as there are no economic prostects and even illegals can find menial jobs. Perhaps, even reading Zionist propaganda rags as Wall Street Journal and Forbes may have some impact on the ignorant ranters.

The United States is in the middle of a devastating long-term economic decline and it is getting really hard to deny it.

The causes of the continuing decline are many. In addition to the anemic economy in the United States, the costs of wars and a huge police state apparatus have weakened the economy further.

No, it is not true. Whoever told you this is full of BS.

Another example of "ROARING US ECONOMY" as the bankrupt economy roars like a mouse: PUBLIC DEBT now 17 TRILLION or almost 2 times the size of the shrinking deadbeat economy, and most debt owed to China and Asia.

Iraq and Afghanistan lost war costs $4-6 TRILLION and counting. Zionist fanned Homeland insecurity paranoia over 1 TRILLION.

Figures on government spending and debt (last six digits are eliminated). The government's fiscal year runs Oct. 1 through Sept. 30.

Total public debt subject to limit Nov. 29 16,283,989

Statutory debt limit 16,394,000

Total public debt outstanding Nov. 29 16,306,713

The subject of this post was the tightening of U.S. sanctions against Iran; hence one expects that the comments be directed at the effects, or lack of, these sanctions on the Iranian economy. But the comments here are mainly discussions of the U.S. economy, which was not the subject here! What’s your take on the main subject? Or is this a way to avoid discussing the subject on hand? If so, why?

Anon 9:59 AM,

Notwithstanding the brilliant answer to your question offered by Anon 8:01 PM, this is what the Iranian government is saying about Busheher. In October, the authorities had to shut down the reactor and removed its fuel. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) says the fuel was tainted with debris, without explaining why. The reactor is now refueled and will go online shortly.

One of the other kids in my junior high class

Shamseddin Hosseini, Iran's minister of economic affairs and finance. says .....

The sanctions are not only hurting Iran, they are also hurting other countries because they increase the price of oil and push up food prices.
