Iran Issues Warning on Drones

Joint IRGC-Artesh Air Defense Drills This Week

Iran said it would deal decisively with any foreign encroachment into its airspace. The warning came after the Pentagon confirmed media reports that two SU-25 fighter jets attached to IRGC-AF had fired on a U.S. MQ1 Predator drone on November 1 in the Persian Gulf. The aircraft was not hit.

“The defenders of the Islamic Republic will respond decisively to any form of encroachment by air, sea or on the ground,” said Brig. Gen. Massoud Jazayeri, a senior IRGC commander. “If any foreign aircraft attempts to enter our airspace our armed forces will deal with them,” he added. (Fars News Agency, 9 November)

Meanwhile, Iran has announced that it will conduct large-scale air defense drills, codenamed ‘Velayat 4,’ across several eastern provinces this week. Velayat 4 will be a joint exercise by the IRGC and the regular army, the Artesh, and will involve testing new radar and surveillance equipment.

There is so much surprise that Iran takes any action against a drone getting so close to its borders. I wonder what does US do when a drone approaches US air space on Eastern Coast?

Iran is not a superpower, the USA is.
The US can afford to be militarily arrogant, Iran can't.
The equal footing argument is the source of the disconnect it seems.
Persia was a superpower once and it dealt with its less powerful enemies much the same way.
Iranian forces can deal with the UAE, Oman, maybe even the Saudis, but not with the United States. If the regime thinks they can then they are delusional.

So if you are not a superpower then you have no rights of self Defense? No Wonder Iran is trying to have significant Nuclear Capabilities then.

I hate to quote Clint Eastwood but "A man has got to know his limitations"!

@Jabbar

No one is disputing the U.S.'s status as a superpower. However, Iran is not a pushover and if the U.S. think Iran is then they are delusional as well.

This Warning is for internal use only....I repeat....This Warning is for......

And that's why Iran is racing to acquire nuclear deterrent; to compensate for its limited conventional force.

@ Jabbar,

Yeah I am not sure quoting a guy having a debate with an empty chair on national TV is such a good idea!

@anon 3:38
But Iran is lying, i mean saying that it's racing to acquire a very expensive means of making electricity by spending billions on nuclear facilities, waiting years, and alienating the entire world.

Yes Jabbar, That is the reason, People of the world are against Iran since it is not being transparent in nuclear technology pursuit. Of course Israel and Pakistan, and India were very transparent and that is why no one says anything about them.

---- " Yeah I am not sure quoting a guy having a debate with an empty chair on national TV is such a good idea!"----

darn straight it ain't.

especially as it turns out that the chair won.

@anon 5:35
The other countries you mention kept a low profile as they developed nuclear weapons as a deterrent and didn't threaten to annihilate anyone.
The world now sees Iran as a rouge state akin to a delinquent child seeking to acquire an Uzi while arguing that its for peaceful purposes.

I'm sorry, I should have said the quote is from "Dirty Harry". If you had free media in Iran you would have been able to watch it on Netflix.

and they also didn't sign the NPT pledging not to hide their nuclear experimentation activities, and then hide them and repeatedly lie about it.

It was rather curious how both administrations (IRI and US) refrained from reporting this incident until after the US election results were known !

I saw an article on the blog written by an EX-blogger of UskowionIran in :

therealamirtaheri.blogspot.com
to my knowledge he is the only blogger so far to point out the significance of this delayed report!

As always in a clever move, the corporate Media swiftly Down played the incident by focusing on failure of IRGC-AF to shoot down the drone rather than the ability of IRIADF to fend off attempts to violate its airspace!

given the number of commentators here discussing how IRGC-AF Pilots should practice more !I can say this tactic works on the uninformed general public !

in retrospect, there is only one reason the US administration withheld the news until after the election:
fear of the republicans to use this embarrassing incident and to attack Obama more !

I can Understand the US admin's move , but what Amir points out in his post is specially very interesting he asks how come the Iranian side did not announce it?
Does this mean Iranians Prefer Obama over Romney?

IRAN'S NUCLEAR AMBITION and the common mistrust-A reply to Fazzeli!.

YOU are one of the most humorous commentators on the web.your biggest undoing comes along when you start shooting randomly upon the REGIME!!to summarize your argument here,is that THE U.s.a can afford and is justified to be arrogant since it is indeed a superpower. And that IRAN IN FACT IS LYING to the world about its nuclear ambition ,they want weapons not electricity after all!.And some countries kept a low profile while building their nuclear arsenal but IRAN is threatening the middle east only nuclear power![ISRAEL].

reply one-
The US might be a superpower but it is not doing justice to be arrogant!.on the contrary the US can commit its obligation on the world stage diligently and prudently without wearing the garb of arrogance.it is this arrogance that has made the world to witness all the cruel wars in recent history. wars that have left a trail of sufferings and sadness upon innocent people. And why to the US innitiate cruel wars in te name of removing a dictator out of power,a military venture would see many innocent people in the streets, and homes die!.

reply two-
WHEN you say IRAN is lying on the nuclear issue, then you are contradicting the general CIA analysis on the whole nuclear issue in IRAN.You did recently produce evidence that Iran is not the fist Nation to make the free ascending drone in the world-in the same spirit we can give evidence from all respected intelligence organizations all agreeing that IRAN HAS NOT DECIDED TO GO NUCLEAR!.

reply three-
At least you can afford to smell some coffee as par IRAN,OMAN,THE UAE and the KSA!in military terms.why not laud the Regime for making the country safe against these hostile SHEIKS in the middle East.-I mean ,if these Arabs can support a military campaign against fellow Arab,IRAQ,LIBYA AND NOW SYRIA ,what would happen to a 'good' soft PERSIAN NATION?

reply four-
IRAN HAS NEVER BEEN ARROGANT,neither is it lying on the Nuclear issue! It is a religious country obeying the decrees of its CLERICS!!.

Iran isn't exactly weak... sure it plays a little over its weight. yet if they did have the s-300 batteries they purchased, they would actually be a very powerful regional power. I still think they're pretty powerful but lack some sort of primary defense against the US main attribute(air power). Indigenous production of the mersad along with the already acquired Tors, and s-300s would've presented a tough nut to crack.

Given Iran's potential for offensive measures(mines, SSM, BM, swarms and midget subs)close to its borders, they could've effectively played Nato and the PGCC into a corner on the military regional front.

As it stands the US still face rough challenge in the gulf. The safest way to go for their military would be from carriers far off the Iranian coast. But that would pretty much be abandoning their allies, so presence on the Persian Gulf is a must.

This particular incident kinda feels linked to the recent event where a [Hezbollah's/Iranian] drone flew into Israeli airspace. Just a message about air control. probably warning shots, but the only way to know would be to see the feed of the drone... This kinda points out some flaws with the American way of doing things(massive&systematic) while underlining the Iranian strengths(unpredictable&sporadic&diversified).

Anyways that's how I suppose Iranian officers wanted it.Us officers have the feed and will probably know whether this was warning shots or some failed attempt at aggressivity. Whichever it is, it will incur a overview/adaptation by the US's command-line.

being , with the very significant addition of the S-300 a regional power in the Middle East....is still insignificant when the opposition is the USA.

Iran's military is comparable to that of Saddam's Iraqi military.... which the US destroyed in a few weeks and without strain.

the mission that the US military would be tasked with in destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program and Iran's military will be much simpler, as there will not likely be any large invasion by infantry after the aerial campaign.

Mr Fazeli
Netflix is only available in US Finland Sweden and Denmark ,by your definition the other 202 countries who don't have access to Netflix do not have Free Media!?
One Suggestion lets rename USKOWIONIRAN.COM to FazeliMDonRegime.com!

Don't forget to change the blog Manifesto to "Fazeli,MD on Regime offers fictional reporting and satirical commentary on the current situation in Iran, with special emphasis on spreading media propaganda and justifying the warmongering of US and Western block , It is just an accident that our posts are completely inline with UANI moves . We thank you for your visit and encourage you not to post your comments if you feel our views are not right . You can contact us by email: wehateiran@gmail.com"
Cheers !

Thanks for the laugh.
I tried the email you posted it doesn't work.

But seriously, name one country other than Iran that buying and selling of unauthorized (non porn) movies can land you in prison. The few that exist (like saudi arabia) are not that great to compare Iran to.

Hint, when I use analogies, don't take them literally, they are meant to convey a point, not be dead on balls accurate. Now if you ever move to finland and get Netflix you can watch "my cusion viny" to get that joke.
