Iran Close to Deal with Airbus

A Transportation Ministry official in Iran said the Iranians were close to securing a deal with France’s Airbus to purchase 10 to 12 airplanes. The official tells IranWire that the deal will be signed in Paris during the upcoming visit of President Rouhani in November.

The negotiations were conducted in the summer at the Paris Air Show. The head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has said at the time that Iran would purchase 40 Airbus planes, but IranWire reports, “the declining oil revenues and a deepening economic recession subsequently limited the order.” (IranWire, 24 October)

A310 = 100 Mill $
Suchoy Super jet = 50 Mill $

Are they getting the 380?

List price is not what airlines get. It is usually 60% of the list price. Sukhoi has not been tested yet. I doubt Iranian airlines will go for Russian plane with Tupolov memories still fresh.

Probably not. International flight is less priority than the regional ones.

Also Russians have proved an undependable as the French, so there is not much difference. Airbus quality and reliability is far better and Iran can always find spares. Iranian engineers can learn more from Toulouse that Moscow. Russia really needs to work on its credibility after the S-300 disaster.

You are on drugs mate. I have been flying on the Armenian airlines super jet last 5 years between Dubai and Yerevan. Never had any incident, let alone even the slightest hint of one. There's hardly any difference between a Sukhoi Super jet or any Boeing or Airbus products. The Sukhoi super jet is a highly competitive product. Just as good as any 'Western' or hillbilly product.

@ Unknown flyer 8:11, Then it should be Aeroflot! Ukraine international flies there but doesn't have super jet. 300 to 500 US$ flight round-trip so cheap. How comfortable is it? Seriously as good as Airbus?
