Iran Navy to Launch New Frigate in Caspian Sea


Iranian Navy will launch a new frigate in the Caspian Sea on Sunday. IRIS Jamaran 2 has a displacement of approximately 1,420 tons and a top speed of 30 knots with a crew of 120. The frigate is equipped with a stern mounted helipad. The vessel’s sister ship, IRIS Jamaran (76), was launched in February 2010 in the Persian Gulf.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will preside over the launch ceremony.

Once we had rights to 50 percent of the Caspian Sea.
Now we only have 13 percent.

Please tell me they are going to upgrade the electronics and armament a bit? The hell with the "heli-pad"...They need a proper tracking radar system, and a real CIWS system for starters.
