Defenders of Velayat Skies-4 maneuvers--Propaganda in action

Fars news posted the story (below) in both English and Farsi. Please note the difference in title in the  two versions.

Fars news--English version
News number: 9107119068

Iran Exercises Targeting UAVs with Hawk Missiles (1)
Photo source: Fars news

Persian version of the same story with the same photo:

گروه سیاسی / حوزه امنیتی و دفاعی91/08/23 - 22:12شماره: 13910823001406

جدیدترین سامانه موشکی پدافند با نام «قادر» تست عملیاتی شد

 "The latest missile defense shield dubbed "ghader" (Able) underwent operational testing"
(2)
Photo source: Fars news

The Persian version of the story ignores the fact that the Hawk SAM is already a known entity and is an import (sometimes from Israel) and not a new "Able" system.
Fars news needs to start understanding that some pentalinguals maybe reading their posts in multiple languages.

@jabbar
you seriously should cut some slack on Iranian communications... yes we know it nowhere near reliable, but just about a week ago somebody from the development team of the f-22 said it's stealthiness would actually raise with use (as stupid as any Iranian comments according to me).
Reposting Iranian news only to point out the unspecified use of file photo or videos seems a little useless.. sorry to say so but mark's posts on military matters were right on target, whereas yours seem to simply be an excuse for criticism of the regime. I'm not saying the regime shouldn't be criticized, just that your reporting is as subjective and emotional as it gets.

I've seen a few posts by other annons on the subject but am seriously wondering why the military coverage of your blog is no longer done by Mark pyruz.. He was more knowledgeable of military matters then any other on this blog, and though I know his views on the regime don't fit in so well, his posts didn't show it... While sorry to say so, yours do..

About the defense shield..ghader is not the name the Iranians have given to their indigenous hawk system(that would be mersad), so my guess is they might of meant new command line/division of the air-defense forces rendered possible by the new systems. Perhaps a new protocol for engaging slow and low targets(hence the mention of UAVs)? [Notice how it seems they are trying to render the HAWK mobile] I don't know anything about farsi so if you have any other translations for air shield this could probably be helpful..

That's why I posts links to information source.
You are Freetown draw your own conclusions.

@ jabbar
so... as long as the iranian media show the pictures its ok... we're free to get to our own conclusion? I do not know half as much as I'd want to about military affairs, yet it just seems redundant the way you (this blog) look at all news coming from Iran, always black, never a shade of grey...

now please don't answer me about the previous part of my post... I agree the Iranian's do a shitty job of telling the truth, I'm just wondering if Mark pyruz will ever take back his former role as main military commentator..

Well, the secrets aren't for you to know.

Hawk system has been optimized and modernized according the needs of the Isla mic Republic

Sorry that i didn't specifically answer your comment about Mark.

I can't speak for other bloggers, including Mark, but when signnificant events, like the current maneuvers occurs, you can't blame us for feeling compelled to cover it.

Mark is one of the admisitrators of this blog, and as such, he is free to post anything he feels like posting.

I don't claim to be balanced, as i am a dissident worthy of hanging, but i try to be fair.

What's with your English dude? You seem to post totally incoherent babble and one dimensional anti-Iran nonsense. People seem to be tiring of your crap. Hope you are not a real doctor or your patients are in serious trouble. Do you work BTW, since you seem to post drivel 24/7?

Normally I would clarify, but I think I'll let you strain your neurons to figure out what my autocorrect really meant.

@jabbar
Fair enough.. I most certainly agree you should cover such events... I just always found marks post to be informative in a way most can't deliver, which is why I've been kind of disappointed by his recent silence..

Actually both titles may be correct. It's both an updated I-Hawk SAM and Persian native designation AD system Ghadr.

I've some friendly advice to offer, Jabbar. For reliability's sake, it's best to remain objective. This is most important in defense reporting. Personally, I recommend the method of analysis.

Of course, if the goal isn't reliability or accuracy, but merely contributing towards the demonization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, then objectivity defeats the purpose of such and can readily be dismissed.

@Mark 12:52
Thanks Mark.
I am merely pointing out the obvious.

The fact is that Fars news posted two different headlines on the same news item in two different languages. There is no other way of report that. If the IR lies or stretches the truth then it is its fault.

I have no love for the Islamic republic, but I am not making anything up, hence the references.

HAVE A REST MR FAZZELI!!.

A-as we have all said along that your articles are generally educative and eye opening,it is very sad to see how hatred and emotional outburst poison an otherwise high valued journalist work. JUST LOOK HOW YOU WANT AS ALL TO CURSE THE REGIME FOR COMMITTING A CAPITAL OFFENSE-that is giving two different headlines for the same article!!.

B-How many times have you ambushed us with some faulty sentences and gross misspellings?. BUT WE ALL KNOW IT IS HUMAN TO ERR WHILE TYPING .

C-WHY ARE YOU SO MERCILESS TO the REGIME-lynching it here on an issue that seems a human err by a journalist in the FARS NEWSPAPER!!.

D-WHEN YOU BUBBLE THAT 'THE HAWK COMES FROM ISRAEL,we would ask- who said it is not?

E-WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK HIT THE REGIME ON THE ECONOMY AND the luxury spending by some Officials and give MR MARK his seat?

F-sorry if am asking too much!!!!

In fact, the Hawk SAM is an American weapon. It is not of Israel.

@anon 10:58
Can you spell Iran-contra?!

Yes JF, some Hawks and associated parts would have been delivered to Iran via Israel, in the Iran contra affair. The point here being the word VIA. This means that the missiles are still an American weapon and not of Israel. Only delivered from the USA, VIA (through) Israel.

If you insist on arguing about nothing then you should at least read what you are talking about more carefully.

My sentence was "The Persian version of the story ignores the fact that the Hawk SAM is already a known entity and is an import (sometimes from Israel) and not a new "Able" system. " Where does it say "made in Israel"?

I'll try to brake it down for you, The subtle hint here was about Iran's act of using Isreal to obtain hawks from the US in the 1980s. A classic example of Islamic republic hypocrisy. The hawks Iran received had the Star of David painted on them btw.

I don't think you should feel compelled to comment on things you don't quite get at first glance. I'm sure you can meet your quota by commenting on less convoluted points. Just a thought

I make no secret of my disapproval of the Islamic republic and I am, as you can tell, a vocal dissident. I can't speak for my fellow blogger Mark but i don't share his views on Iran.

It doesn't take military expertise to notice that the F-7 (chinese made MIG 21) that Iran likes to show off in every maneuver is actually only good enough for the Zimbawe airforce. (http://www.scramble.nl/zw.htm)

As to Iran being loose with the truth, it is not a typo or human error. In such cases one would have seen corrections and retractions.

In any case, if Iran wants to improve its image it needs to start acting differently. Trying to paint an alternate reality for Iranians is not going to go unnoticed or unchecked.

Iran insults our itelegence when it blatently tries to fake pictures, videos or stories like their weekly Wunderwaffe that turns out to be a modification on outdated weapon systems.

Fars news (not newspaper btw) is supposed to be a major news source in Iran; we shouldn't have to question every story they put out, but we do because they have a bad track record of not telling the truth. No amount of cyber basij interference can change that.

BE A BENEVOLENT DISSIDENT!!.-in reply to J.F

That you are a dissident is no problem.And that you totally disagree with the policies of the regime is also welcome.what i would advice you is that turn yourself to an educator. rationalism and decorum is a key factor in any exchanges b/tween people.EMPTY TALK,HIGH VOLTAGE INSULTS,HIGHLIGHTING HUMAN ERRORS,INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY,and all those vices that eat down an emotional critic need not to knock you down.We may not agree with you being supporters of the Regime. but still we all know that YOU AND THE MULLAHS SHARE a common aim that is YOU ALL WISH THE BETTER OF YOUR people!The government in Iran has very clever people-people who accept change and admit mistakes.

IRAN NEED YOU -BENEVOLENT DISSIDENTS!LIKE WHAT HAPPENED IN CHINA:the communist government there was hard on its critics but at the same time used those same criticism to change and make a self rehabilitation!. in the end we have a military, economically giant CHINA TODAY thanks to the input of its citizens both CRITICS AND DIE HARD SUPPORTERS!!.
