Leopard Painted Uniform for Team Iran - Correction


Team Iran unveils its leopard painted shirt ahead of 2014 World Cup.

Correction: The painted image is Asiatic or Iranian Cheetah.

i do believe that is the Asiatic Cheetah, not a leopard :)

I agree, Anon. It looks more like Iranian cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus venaticus) than Persian leopard (Panthera pardus ciscaucasica).

its ok Nader Uskowi :) the reason for the inclusion of the cheetah on the jersey is to promote the great threat to the animals in Iran and to promote conservation efforts.

p.s you have a great blog and i visit this site everyday, fantastic posts and are great to read for an half iranian boy born in england.

That kind of Cheetah is not uniquely Iranian. It is called the Asiatic Cheetah and used to live exist in other countries around Iran, as well. Now, they are only wild in Iran because of people using firearms to hunt them in those other countries.
