Israel-Palestine Conflict Intensifies

Palestinians on Friday launched longer-range rockets toward Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The attack on Jerusalem was the first on the city since 1970s. In response, the IDF launched airstrikes before dawn Saturday on the Gaza City offices of Prime Minister Ismail Haniya. The offices were closed at the time of the attack.

Along with Premier Haniya’s headquarters, which was destroyed, the Israeli military struck the police and homeland security headquarters of Hamas in Gaza City. The Israeli Air Force also attacked 200 targets overnight including 120 rocket launchers as Operation Pillar of Defense intensified.
Hamas said it has developed “M-75” rockets with a range of approximately 46 miles that were fired toward Jerusalem. On Thursday, Hamas had also used Iranian-build Fajr-5 missiles in an attack on Kiryat Malakhi. Fajr-5 also has a similar range of 46 miles. Most of the rockets fired by Hamas have fallen within 25 miles of the Gaza border (see the map). By using the longer-range rockets, Hamas has been able to target Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. About 30 rockets were also fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Saturday morning.

Iron Dome, the Israeli anti-missile shield, jointly developed by the United States and Israel, has been successful in intercepting 90 percent of Palestinian rockets within its 25-mile zone. In response to rockets reaching Tel Aviv, IDF on Friday deployed the 5th Iron Dome near the city.

not successful!!

MR USKOWI WITH DUE RESPECT,WHERE DO YOU GET THE INFORMATION OF THE GOOD PERFORMANCE OF THE so CALLED IRON DOME-many sources show that these batteries are a great let down to the ISRAELI REGIME failing completely to live to its billing.EVEN 'DEBKA FILE' HAVE HINTED THIS WEAKNESS BY SAYING THAT ONLY A THIRD OF THE MISSILES HAVE BEEN INTERCEPTED. is it not the reason that they are bringing the fifth one ??.

In fact, the current heavy aerial bombardment against the besieged Gaza strip(assumed to be the weakest nation, militarily, in the region) is none other than a Zionist Regime of Israel's show of anger, despair and frustration. It's all definitely due to a matter of the mighty IRAN's and its proxy, the powerful Hezbollah Army of Lebanon. That's what Israel really is.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but not their facts. Notwithstanding one's wishes for the Iron Dome's success rate or lack of, all major news agencies are reporting a success rate of 87-90 percent. If the rate was what you are hoping for, many Israeli towns would have seen widespread destruction by now.

BMA------ to clarify the situation, of the roughly 500 missiles fired at Israel, about 325 have gotten through.........

but Iron Dome defenses have only tried to intercept about 200 of the 500.

Most of the rockets haven't been challenged.

Iron Dome has destroyed more than 80% of of what it's been aimed at, which is wildly successful.

So what reason would you give for the inability to target all the rockets? The mere fact that the Israelis are unable to knock out all incoming projectiles is in and by itself a failure. Is the Iron Dome system being over saturated? Well then that would be a clear indication of its weaknesses. Any success rate is null and void when you admit that targets have been left out, presumably not due to neglection, but rather due to inherent limitations of the Iron Dome system. You're only decieving yourself by lauding an artificially construed success rate, but by all means, you're allowed to have your own interpretation/opinion of events, even though they aren't neccesarily a matter of fact. And for the record, the vast majority of those Palestinian rockets that are being fired towards Israel, and which are not being targeted in the air, would not cause "widespread destruction", since they are highly inaccurate, and would impact in the desert outside the towns and cities.

The BBC says tonight that:

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released figures on Saturday stating that over the past three days, 492 rockets fired from Gaza had hit Israel, while another 245 had been intercepted by Iron Dome.

It would seem that Iron Dome is 30% effective, which is actually not effective at all.

Of course we need to wait few more days to get more accurate statistics before drawing broad conclusions. The Israelis are claiming that the Iron Dome has only targeted 272 of the incoming rockets and hit 243 of them by day's end on saturday, that would be an amazingly successful rate of 88 percent if the figures are reported correctly.

In any case, 460 rockets have landed in Israel during the first five days, and reportedly only 33 of them landed in habitable areas, explaining why the low number of casualties and destruction in Israel. This fact supports the IDF claim that it has intercepted many rockets going to population centers.

But again, let's wait a bit more before following definitive conclusion on the accuracy rate of the Iron Dome.

do you believe?

MR USKOWI,-with THE ISRAEL REGIME HISTORY OF AMBIGUITY AND TRUTH DENYING,and the enviable advantage of holding the global media buy its balls ,do you believe ISREAL WITH GIVE TRUTHFUL FIGURES ON CASUALTIES PERTAINING TO THE WEAKNESS OF THE DOME AGAINST THE WORLDS CHEAPEST AND RECKLESSLY ASSEMBLED ROCKETS COMING FROM THE WORLD'S MOST DEPRIVED NATION?.

===== "

the reason given is that they're not wasting ammo on rockets that aren't on a trajectory that'll cause them to fall near a built-up and populated area.

one doesn't block a punch that's not going to land.
