Dated 26AUG15:

Major General Mohammed Ali al-Maqdeshi, the Chief of Staff for the Yemeni “government-in-exile,” the forces loyal to Saudi Arabia, claimed today that his forces are approaching the capital city of Sanaa, and will take the entire city over “within a few days.”

The Egyptians suffered the same fate in the mountain culverts in the 1960's, now the technology is better with Kornets and other modern ATGM and armored vehicles boxed in on narrow roads are sitting ducks. Hezbollah set the benchmark in 2006 when it destroyed 10% of Zionist armor including Merkeva's with Kornets. The lost war in Yemen is costing the Saudis and Emiratis over $2 billion a week with no results, and a time when oil prices have hit rock bottom and over 90% of dwindling Saudi revenue is derived from oil. Yemen is the mother of all quagmires.

The Yemeni government-in-exile is saying they would mount battle for Sanaa in 8 weeks, Reuters is reporting today. This is more likely that "within a few days," which was probably meant operations in Mareb in a few days as prelude for Sanaa.

In the absence of a peaceful settlement of the conflict, however, the battle for Sanaa could be brutal and deadly. Let's hope there would be a settlement by then.

I am wondering why Ansarallah/Yemeni Army is not targeting Saudis oil and oil export facilities using those Scud missiles. That would have enormous effect not only on Saudi government by threating their life line but also attracts the world's attention to Yemen by increasing oil prices in the world market.

Very little the houthis can do to stop the advance of KSA/UAE forces toward Sana'a . It behooves them to start negotiating for a better terms of settlement or they may risk a total rout .

There is no doubt that the comment was posted as it was acknowledged by the google engine. Why bother to publish my corrective comment but not the very comment that it relates to?! R.
