No Deadlines for Iran - Clinton

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said today that the U.S. is not setting any deadlines for Iran. The statement came amid reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was pressing the White House to set a clear “red line” for military intervention over Iran’s nuclear program.

We’re not setting deadlines,” said Clinton replying to the question if the White House will lay out sharper “red lines” for Iran or state explicitly the consequences of failing to negotiate a deal with world powers by a certain date. Clinton made the comments during an interview with Radio Bloomberg on the sidelines of Asia-Pacific Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. (Bloomberg, 10 September)

“We’re watching very carefully about what they do, because it’s always been more about their actions than their words,” Clinton added.

“They (the Israelis) are more anxious about a quick response because they feel that they’re right in the bull’s-eye, so to speak,” Clinton said. “But we’re convinced that we have more time to focus on these sanctions, to do everything we can to bring Iran to a good-faith negotiation.”

Netanyahu told Canada's CBC TV on Sunday: "I don't think that they (Iran) see a clear red line, and I think the sooner we establish one, the greater the chances that there won't be a need for other types of action [nuclear blackmail]." Israeli newspaper Haaretz said today Netanyahu had told German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle that if Iran enriched uranium above 20 %, that would provide a red line as it would prove Tehran had chosen to exceed the level of refinement suitable for civilian energy and "break out" with an atom bomb. He is insisting that he is "discussing Iran 'Red Line' with U.S." by abandoning his zero tolerance for nuclear enrichment in Iran! Peace is near my friends.

He still thinks he can blackmail the USA during an election year. That is why Hillary had to convey the realities to him, today.

From the press corp, he has lost most of his support base at home for an attack. The only valid question is - How insane is he?
