President Lula da Silva Arriving in Tehran

Brazilian President Lula da Silva arrived in Tehran on Saturday for meetings with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad. Lula will also attend the G15 summit being held in Tehran on Monday. Iran’s uranium enrichment program is at the top of the agenda when the Brazilian president meets with Khamenei and Ahmadinejad. Lula is trying to pull off a last-minute compromise between Iran and the West before UN Security Council considers a new round of sanctions against Iran.

According to PressTV, Lula arrived as part of a 300-member delegation! That included 5 cabinet ministers. They've already publicly signed eleven MOUs.
Brazil has a lot to gain economically from its relationship with Iran, a powerful incentive for Lula to mediate the nuclear impasse and any further sanctions imposed on Iran.
Brazil also has a very active nuclear program and is a rising power with the second largest economy in the Americas. Iran and Brazil are forging links at many levels. In this new Asia centric multi-polar world "sanctions" on large nations like Iran with multiple land, sea and air bridges to the world, isolation is simply not possible.
