Simin Daneshvar, a leading novelist, writer and intellectual died on Thursday in Tehran at the age of 90. She was the first female novelist in Iran and a towering figure in contemporary Persian litrature. Daneshvar’s masterpiece, Suvashun, was published in 1969, receiving wide literary acclaims as a seminal work of modern Persian fiction.

The Savushun, I'm happy to report has been translated into English by Roxane Zand (and a very good translation it is)under the title of "A Persian Requiem". It was published by Peter Halban Publishers Ltd. in London in 1991. I am sure you'll be able to order it from your favourite second hand bookshop as indeed I obtained my copy in the same way about 15 years ago. Good Luck and hope you'd enjoy reading the book.
