Israeli Strike on Iran Could Bring Wider War

A classified war simulation conducted by the U.S. military forecasts that an Israeli strike against Iran would lead to a wider regional war, potentially drawing in the United States and leaving hundreds of Americans dead, the New York Times reported today.

The war game, held this month, was not intended as a dress rehearsal for U.S. military action, according to officials who spoke with The Times. The game raised fears among planners that it would be impossible to keep America from becoming involved in a confrontation with Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said: “We do not have nuclear weapons and we will not build them in the face of aggression from the enemies, whether from America or the Zionist regime; to defend ourselves we will attack on the same level as the enemies attack us. Americans are making a grave mistake if they think by making threats they will destroy the Iranian nation.”

TRANSLATION: Iran does not make nuclear weapons as a first strike capability. In fact, the Supreme Leader is vowing Iran will never use its deterrent nukes under any circumstance unless as a retaliatory counterstrike. In his warped statement, the Ayatollah does not see his stockpile of nukes as an 'existing' weapon, they will only come into existence under any nuclear attack by enemies. This is a similar posture to China.

I repeat, the Iranians do not see deterrent nukes as evil; rather, they see the usage of nukes as a mortal sin. It is a religious nuance that I am afraid its intended audience will not understand.

I read this article. It sounds like all heck would break loose. Did you guys see this article though about Israel? They somehow seem to have a very calm view of the affects of an attack. I think the Israelis are being pollyannas - an attack would be a disaster!
