Iran to Trade in Local Currencies and Gold - CBI

Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mahmoud Bahmani said in Tehran today that the country could trade in currencies other than the US dollar in its foreign transactions.

“Iran does not just work with the dollar in trade transactions and every country can pay in its own currency,” Bahmani said [IRNA, 28 February].

Bahmani said Iran imports commodities from China and India in exchange for the countries’ currencies and it could also receive gold in its transactions instead of currency transfers.

Iran is trying to find ways to bypass the upcoming comprehensive sanctions against the CBI, expected to go into effect on July 1st.

Free Mir Hossein Mousavi... Iranians would be advancing rather then retreating back to the dark ages. Present regime has blacklisted 100's of potential reformist candidates, others are on house arrest, many are in prison - all for advancing freedom. If Iranians allows this to continue, the deteriorating environment they experience now, will only become worse. Once you are living like North Koreans, it will be too late.

Enough of this Mousavi nonsense he is one of the regime stooges.
He murdered over 20000 young men and women when he was prime minister during Khomeini time 1986.

And another thing why are you busting your gut over Mousavi being freed while the real political prisoners are rotting in Iran's dungeons.Mousavi was used as bait to trick the people and control the masses opposed against the regime.

1.There is no reforming this regime.

2.Reformists are not advancing freedom but prolonging the life of this regime.

3.The regime is already forcing Iranians to live like North Koreans through cult worship of AGHA.

4.The only way is to get rid of this regime including the so called "reformists" then there will be true freedom and democracy.

Anon 4:30 PM.....Totally agree friend.Mousavi is a criminal and charlatan and was used by the people to ride as a donkey but the donkey is of no use anymore to our cause.
All the best.

I'm curious, how exactly do you propose we get rid of this seemingly inextricable regime?

If you pander to Mousavi the criminal stooge of the regime you pander to the regime.
They are all cut from the same cloth therefor can't be trusted.
This regime is getting rid of itself through its suicidal policies therefor don't encourage it to stay longer through the so called reformist movement. This regime like the communist or Nazi regimes before it is not reformable.
Nothing is inextricable.

Mousavi was like a weapon on the ground during battle... both sides had an interest here in using this tool- He symbolized a focal point to direct attention and mobilize feet on the ground, i.e. you are biting off more than you can chew by going straight for the prize, learn to walk before you run. You'll have to back out of this, not break out... the regime will simply shoot you down like al-Assad w/Syrians... and then claim it was some opaque nebulous proxy element.* even if it is not the regime- another mass protest sets up another suppression, and this serves both sides. You guys (freedom movement) continue thinking in tactical terms, without a clear strategy- like "Occupy" movement in America... they are largely ignored and ineffective. The children of 1960's hippie parents- with Mom and Dad egging them on, reliving vicariously the old protests.

IRGC needs an enemy to validate their budget, while society crumbles. By driving the weapon program forward you invoke the required response from the West, and that is sold to Iranians as reason for such lavish spending on IRGC apparatus. Know this... nobody has any influence over Israel now- the IDF can strike like lightning before anyone, that includes the West, knows of it -

The regime has Iranian citizens racing down a one way street with the lights off. Get ready.

And yet the IDF hasn't done anything in the last decade to prevent Iran from achieving its nuclear goal and mind you, nobody had influence over Israel during that period.
