Ahmadinejad’s CNN Interview

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that US pursuit of “hegemonic” practices harbingers its downfall. During an interview by CNN, as reported by the Iranian media, Ahmadinejad said the US has earned itself the position of a “hated” government as it “encroaches upon the independence of sovereign nations.” He predicted the “collapse of the US Empire” [IRNA, 22 October].

“The American administration should change its policies as these have failed both domestically and internationally,” said Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad also dismissed as “baseless” US allegations that Iran was involved in an assassination plot against the Saudi ambassador to Washington. He said the US was attempting to drive a wedge between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

were you there when the interview was conducted?

I was wondering how you know it was good in the original.....before those CNNers change everything all around and try to make Mahmoud sound like a deeply ignorant, bigoted and silly little liar.

Mahmoud has come to NYC several times and has spoken publicly several times during his visits.

Do you think that his speech at Columbia University in 2007 was altered or mistranslated?

Were his speeches at the UN this year or in 2009 altered or mistranslated?

Does Juan Cole mistranslate Ahmadinejad's remarks?

ther transcript is always to be read ( to avoid false translations)

I saw what the CNN made of it. It was redicolus, this Zakaria fareed whatever, is scared to even utter a word of admiration for Iran
,even as a country. fear of not being allowed into some Israeli dominated press institutions is causing such an anti iranian, wantonly edited and almost a forced disinformation.

Western media outlets are no better that the rest of the eastern, northern and southern.

if you are a healthy minded, unbiased ..... then you shall read them all and wait a month to see who tells the truth before you jughe or prejudge the other, and please spare me your anti religous complexes. I dont wanna hear it.

it might be that he really doesn't admire anything about what the theocrats have turned Iran into.

not a lot of people are fans of the Iranian regime.

and almost no one is a fan of Ahmadinejad. quite a few people think he's quite a nasty little liar on top of being quite ignorant.

though, not too many of us think that his advisors are practicing sorcery.

USA does not seem to want to learn that ist problems start and ends with Israel and not Iran.

But it will learn.

most sane humans aren't obsessed with Israel and Jews, friend.

Iran's government smells of excremental waste all on its own and Israel has nothing to do with THAT problem.

You will learn to clean your own backside rather than trying to point to someone's elses.
