16 Iranian Police Kidnapped

Sixteen members of Iran’s Law Enforcement Force (LEF) were taken hostage in the town of Saravan in Iranian Baluchistan early this morning. The sixteen were the entire uniformed personnel of the police post in Saravan.

It is believed that the militant Iranian Baluchi group Jundallah is behind the kidnapping. Referring to a recently-signed security pact between Iran and Pakistan, Fars News Agency is reporting that Pakistan was to arrest and extradite to Iran the Jundallah chief Abdol Malek Riggi. He is believed to live in Pakistani Baluchistan.

In the past couple of years, Jundallah has been involved in armed clashes with IRGC and LEF forces inside Iran and has undertaken a number of terrorist attacks in Baluchistan area.
