Pirates Take Over Ship Bound to Iran

The pirates operating off the coast of Somalia this morning took over a cargo ship carrying vehicles from Brazil to Iran. One of the pirates identified as “Hassan” confirmed the seizure of the ship to IRNA during a telephone call from Somalia [IRNA, 2 May]. The ship was operating under Ukrainian flag. The name of the ship and the number of crew taken hostage were not reported.
