Tehran Protests

Police used teargas and batons to disperse large anti-government protests in Tehran today. The demonstrations, staged by pro-Green movement activists on the streets of Tehran, coincided with pro-government rallies marking the 30th anniversary of the takeover of US embassy in Tehran.

The anti-government protestors were chanting “Death to Dictator” and other Green slogans. There are reports of injuries in Tehran. Anti-government protests are also underway in Shiraz, Ahvaz and other major cities in the country.

If you have gone against the law of the day which clearly stated that they should be no demos, then you break it and face the consequences.

36% against Ahmadi nejad
62% pro Ahmadi nejad.

In Tehran was a majority for Mussavi

That is the result of last election, and the demos confirms those results.

Breaking the law is not always lawlessness, but it could very well be civil disobedience. That’s what’s happening in Iran today. That’s what the rulers should expect when they repress the aspirations and freedoms of a segment of their society, even if they are not in majority.
