Iran’s state-run Press TV reported today
that Azerbaijan is operating a fleet of 10 Hermes-450 UAVs on surveillance
missions along its borders with Iran. Press TV, attributing its reports to
Iranian military experts, said Israeli satellites are closely cooperating with
Azeri drones.
Hermes 450s are equipped with air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles as
well as electronic warfare equipment. Their range of mission, however, is
limited to 200-300 kilometers, restricting their operational usefulness. They
are built by Israeli-based Elbit Systems, a global defense electronics
manufacturers and integrators.
