Iran's replica carrier intended for military training - IRGC-N commander

According to Iranian armed forces media outlet Defa Press, IRGC-N Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi publicly stated that the purpose of Iran's "scale replica" USN Nimitz class aircraft carrier is for use in future training exercises involving IRGC-ASF, IRGC-N, IRIN and IRIAF forces.

As for previous Iranian media claims that the replica carrier's purpose is that of a "movie prop," the IRGC-N commander dismissed such reports as being "meaningless."

IRGCN’s Deterrence Dissuades Enemy Attack - Commander

IRGC Navy's deterrence strategy dissuades the enemies of Iran from any military confrontation in the Persian Gulf, the IRGCN commander said today.

“With the materialization of the IRGC Navy's deterrence strategy, enemies... are heavily afraid of a military confrontation with us in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” said Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi. [IRNA/Press TV, 17 August]

Adm. Fadavi added that Iran's naval deterrence measures up to the type and size of potential threats. He said the enemies have understood that “any hostile action [against Iran] will be met with a regrettable and crushing response.”

“Having taken a series of measures in hardware and software sectors, we have made the enemy believe that threatening national interests and security of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be ensued by threats [posed] to the national interests and security of aggressors," said Fadavi.

The strategic Strait of Hormuz is IRGCN’s area of responsibility. About 15 million barrels of oil flow through Hormuz every day, making it one of the most important shipping lanes.

IRGC Holds Naval Drill Near Strait of Hormuz

Close to U.S.-led International Mines Countermeasure Exercise

IRGC Naval Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said on Monday that Iran has test-fired four missiles designed to hit warships during a drill near the Strait of Hormuz. Adm. Fadavi added that the missiles were fired simultaneously at a warship-sized target and sank it within 50 seconds.

"We have missile systems that cover all the Persian Gulf coasts and the American bases (in the region)," Admiral Fadavi said. (Fars News Agency)

The IRGC missile drill took place simultaneously and close to U.S.-led International Mines Countermeasure Exercise (IMCMEX) in the Persian Gulf that began on Sunday 16 September and runs through 27 September.

On 18 September, Iran had held a minelaying exercise, but that drill was conducted at the Caspian Sea across the country from the Persian Gulf.
