Ziad Bahaa El-Din, currently the Chairman of the Egyptian Financial
Supervisory Authority (EFSA), is to be named Egypt’s new prime minister, Ahram
reported today. Former IAEA director Mohamed ElBaradei will also be named as vice president. (Al-Ahram, 7

The choice of
two liberal politician to lead the new administration represents a striking
change from the former Muslim Brotherhood-led government.
Dr. El-Din is a founding member of Egypt’s Social Democratic Party.

He has received his doctorate in financial law from the London School of
Economics, his MA in international business from King’s College London and his
BA in economics from the American University in Cairo.
