Iran’s Aging Airliner Fleet Seen as Faltering Under U.S. Sanctions - NYT

After 17 years of U.S. sanctions that have prevented Iran from buying new Western planes and spare parts, the country’s civilian aircraft are far past their normal years of service and rarely a year goes by without major airline accidents. Most Iranian planes are forbidden to operate within the EU for safety reasons. Anger over sanctions.
