Reports of Huge Explosion in Isfahan – But Government Says No Explosions

There were widespread reports, including emails to this blog, of a powerful explosion that shook Isfahan today. The report was also carried by the semi-official Fars News Agency, but was later taken off its website. Fars had quoted Isfahan’s deputy mayor as confirming the report of the explosion and saying that the officials were investigating the cause.

Later in the day, the deputy governor of Isfahan, Mohammad-Mehdi Ismaili, denied that an explosion has occurred in the city, calling the reports “completely baseless and fabricated.”

Isfahan is home to the country’s sole uranium conversion facility (UCF), converting enriched uranium into uranium rods, and any report of explosion naturally raises concerns and interests these days. We will keep you informed as soon as reliable information become available.

  1. I have it on good authority (friend of my friend living in Isfahan) that he did not hear any of the explosions. My relative's friend who is also a resident of Isfahan confirmed there was no explosion.

    I think it's safe to say that news reports of explosion in Isfahan are false.

    I'm afraid your good authority was a liar because I know from very reliable sources that there was an sound of a large explosion and it was heard across Isfahan at 2:38 PM.

    So I think is safe to say that the only thing which is false is your so called information.

    There have never been ANY explosions in Iran.

    This is another trick, just like this one:

    I'm in agreement with Anon 5:47 PM. I just called my relative who's also living in Isfahan and he told me that he has never heard an explosion. In fact, he was surprised when I asked him about it. He assumed that I was referring to the other incident that occurred two weeks ago.

    Now I'm not sure how reliable your so-called reliable sources that dispute our claims, but I do know that my relative would never tell lies and I'm sure the same can be said for friends of Anon 5:47 PM.

  5. There have never been ANY explosions in Iran.

    This is another trick, just like this one:

    The difference is that Iran has publicly acknowledged the event whereas this new incident is denied by them.

  6. There was no explosion caused by Zionist saboteurs and very few people were killed according to government sources helping to access how much radioactive debris was released when the explosion did not occur.

    Your nuclear facilities were jsut hit again and all you could muster for a response was a few silly katyusha rockets into northern Israel???

    Soon your friend of a friend will be proven to be a liar, the spy satelite images don't lie!

  11. I remember vaguely to have read some note or blog entry on the net about a fuel pump station on the outskirts of Isfahan having exploded, but I cannot remember the exact source anymore, so even this information might be false.

  12. There is no doubt about it this Islamic regime is the most stupidest and desperate regime in Iran's history and unfortunately Iranians are paying a very high price for it with zero returns.

    You're right that spy satellite images don't lie. In fact, I took the liberty of checking it out on Google Maps and guess what? The nuclear facilities in Isfahan is still intact which is the same as the one I checked out three weeks ago. My findings prove that you're a liar, and a bad one at that.

    You should have googled it first before making a fool of yourself by posting false statements.

    As for katyusha rockets that were fired into northern Israel, that's really just a coincidence. If the rocket attacks were indeed a response to bombing of Isfahan, I would expect a lot more of these than just a few silly ones.

  16. From The Australian

    ~~~~~~AN IRANIAN nuclear facility has been hit by a huge explosion, the second such blast in a month, prompting speculation that Tehran's military and atomic sites are under attack.
    Satellite imagery seen by The Times confirmed that a blast that rocked the city of Isfahan on Monday struck the uranium enrichment facility there, despite denials by Tehran.
    The images clearly showed billowing smoke and destruction, negating Iranian claims yesterday that no such explosion had taken place."~~~~~
    Thanks for the link. It confirmed my suspicion that the explosion didn't really take place and the fact that the major media outlets didn't pick this story up before only reinforces my suspicion.
    And you must be one of those self-hating Iranians who pretend to be proud Iranians. Shame on you.
