IRGC-N simulated attacks on mock USN aircraft carrier target ship

Iran media imagery of IRGC-N attacks upon mock USN Nimitz-class aircraft carrier target ship, on 25FEB15 during Great Prophet 9 exercise.

Simulated attack on mock USN Nimitz-class aircraft carrier target ship, more aptly characterized as an IRGC-N conducted, live-fire dramatization. Intent includes training, and demonstration contributing towards current naval debates over the vulnerability and speculated obsolescence of large aircraft carriers.

Mock USN Nimitz-class aircraft carrier target vessel was reportedly struck by coastal ASBMs, ALCMs fired from rotory-wing aircraft, and rockets fired from MLRS in a swarm attack by inshore patrol force craft.

  1. Unfortunately, throughout their history Iranians have a pattern of impudence and self delusion, followed by crushing defeats..

    2. What's Persian culture got to do with this ridiculous stunt?

    3. 2500 years is only the kingdom history of Iran. Civilization history goes beyond 7000 years and in some claims to 12000 years. The archeological findings from burnt city in Jiroft indicates an older civilization than Mesopotamia. Events such as Norooz, Mehregan, sadeh and so many other things has not perished and still with us and makes us who we are. When Egypt conquered by the Arabs their language, religion and eventually identity changed and they were degenerated to Arabs, however they were not able to change the language of the Persians nor their culture. it was Persians who organized Arabic grammar. Persians even brought deviation to their imposed religion by converting it to Shia Islam. Freedom movements started by the heroes such as Babak, Maziar, Yakub Leys, Taher and Abu Moslem against Arabs. The origin of all these were in our non perishable Persian culture.

You write of these freedom movements like Babak Khorramdin who just so happens was against Islamic rule in Iran. And wanted the return of pre-islamic Iran.I hope you realize that todays Iran is under Islamic hegemony? Until this hegemony is removed from within Iran the country remains occupied under an alien culture which is counter to our old beliefs. One more important note. The greatest strength of Iran is not its military power but its old pre-islamic culture and language. The present regime is against these principles.

  4. It is highly possible remember what happen to the USS Cole. The Nimitz Class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers are the largest warships ever built."The 50 TACAIR air wing includes up to 82 aircraft. Typically this would be: 12 F/A-18E/F Hornets, 36 F/A-18 Hornets, four E-2C Hawkeyes, and four EA-6B Prowlers fixed-wing; and the following helicopters: four SH-60F and two HH-60H Seahawks. The Raytheon AN/SLQ-32(V) electronic warfare system detects hostile radar emissions by two sets of antennae and the system analyses the pulse repetition rate, the scan mode, the scan period, and the frequency. The system identifies the threat and direction, provides a warning signal and interfaces to the ship's countermeasures systems.
It is a Powerful ship, but it is not Impossible to Sink it! this great ship can only handle 100 or so surface to ship missiles at a time and it is a very slow moving ship 30 knots is its speed limit, all the IRGC has to do is direct a super volley of Electro shock wave Missiles at the Carriers and destroyers Aegis Ship self defense System and "walah" you have a Sinking fortress on water! Note that the ships counter Measures will be attacked first.
That said, both sides will be fighting very hard. Also note that the Iranians are well aware of all Ship defense formations and Counter Measures.

  5. The reason that they have not attacked Iran unlike Iraq and Syria is nothing but what you saw in the movie. Iran's defense doctrine is based on deterrence. Make the cost of any aggression upon an aggressor so high that they think twice before attacking you. Iran has paid a heavy price to learn this. Iranians stood against Iraq's aggression literally with meat walls against Saddam Hussein's army that was supported by the east and west in every possible way. Regardless of history and whether we are impudent or self deluded the sacrifice that Iranians nation showed to defend their country is what we are proud of.

    1. The other day a mad man blocked my way from leaving a shop.He said that he was god and told me to wait until he gave me permission to leave.I asked myself is it possible that he is speaking the truth as regards being a god? Of course it isn't possible I told myself and proceeded by pushing him aside so as to pass this insane biped.

    2. Then attack them if you have guts and be careful when you push a mad man because you may initiate an action that you may be unable to bare consequences for it.

    3. But I do have guts ! That's why I pushed the mad man aside and the consequences was he started to curse me for it.

  7. We are not impudent, We are independent free nation who don't bow to injustice, double standards and global hegemony. As any other nation during our long and glorious history, we have had crushing defeats against Greeks, Arabs and Mongolians, however we have had glorious victories against Greeks, Romans and Ottomans too. Even at the defeat the conqueror needed us to teach them how to manage what they have conquered. Not only in old times but as recent as past 400 years during Afshari and Safavid dynasties. Our territories stretched from India in the East to Mediterranean cost in the west not only during Achaemenid Empire but 1000 years long to Sasanid dynasty. Iran has ruled the world for more than 500 years in total. More importantly we have our own culture and civilization and unlike western countries who has nothing of themselves and champ Greek culture and civilization as their own.

  8. Reminds me of the famous Bruce Lee movie : "Boards don't hit back"
Mock ups don't hit back, US aircraft carriers do, and that with a vengeance !

  9. It was just a demonstration and a message behind it for the negotiations going on in Geneva. Americans are smart enough to get the message.

    1. In ten years, whatever was doubtful at that time, will become more realistic and stronger.

Look at previous negligent and ignored adversaries' claims about Iran's abilities to advance their nuclear technology (centrifuges) or development of the submarine technologies: today it is a reality which makes nightmares for the Iran's enemies.

  10. Iranian Navy really could sink a modern aircraft carrier if the carrier had no engine and didn't shoot back.

of course a real US carrier group would destroy the entire Iranian navy in half a day and spend the rest of the day destroying every iranian naval base.
