Not the Time to Squeeze Iran

From an editorial on Sunday’s edition of The New York Times:

“Sanctions have been crucial in keeping the pressure on Iran. But doubling down on them at this delicate moment, when Iran and six major powers, including the United States, have made progress toward an interim agreement, could cause negotiations between the two sides to collapse and, worse, become a pathway to war.

“President Obama deserves more time to work out a negotiated settlement with Iran and the other major powers. If the deal falls through, or if inspections by the United Nations unearth cheating, Congress can always impose more sanctions then. But if talks fail now, Mr. Netanyahu and the hard-line interest groups will own the failure, and the rest of us will pay the price.”

  1. New York Times,Guardian newspaper,BBC,VOA are all supporters of the Ayatollah oppressor regime.Their job is to prolong the life of the anti-Iran mafia theocracy. They as well as the islamic terrorizing oppressors are the real enemies of Iran zamin. May god destroy them all so that Iran will be free from their lies.

    3. With respect Nader jon, since when the New York Times,Guardian,BBC,VOA et-al have the interests of Iran zamin at heart? And wishing the destruction of Iran zamins enemies that helped install this terrorist regime in place is not being oppressor or Mafia-type. I suppose BP and Shell Oil and other companies are falling over themselves to pay Iran at the highest price? This regime has made Iran so economically weak and isolated that they will do anything to sell Iran to the lowest bider so long as they save their own skins. Qajar's come to mind !

    5. Anon 1;12 PM,

With respect, since when any civilized person could wish for the destruction of the major newspapers and media outlets in the world just because on a political issue he disagrees with them? and with your latest remarks, you seem to imply that companies like Shell and BP should be destroyed as well.

Don't you see that being against the Iranian regime does not give you the license to "destroy" the media and big businesses that you consider as being pro-regime? Can't you really see that distinction? If you were to become the leader in Iran, wouldn't you use the same tactics as the present regime?

    6. Oh come on Uskowi,of course I'm civilized person ! And if my words destroy, then most likely I would use it against the regime ! But I still say that these companies and media outlets helped fan the destruction of Iran and are still playing a large part in the regimes survival. So are they classed as civilized? And if you look into it,you would notice that it is in their interest to maintain the regime as long as possible.Because like the Qajars before them the regime is doing a bloody good job by selling Iran down the tubes to the likes of Russia and China. As you know in the last two days there has been a report about khamenei's gang stealing property from Iranians worth over $95 billion. You can't deal with a terror regime with please, thankyou and goodbye. They need to be drained of all resources so that they are incapable in maintaining the tyrannical system. To your last question.Of course not ! I'm against execution and physical torture but would let the courts and the people decide to keep these criminals under lock and key for the remaining years of their lives with the old Iranian flag waving in the prison compound and playing AH IRAN three times a day with their meals.

    7. And there was a statement by the President ROUHANI on Saturday at the Majlis, regarding the Iranian nuclear rights' position, after the end of the first part of those November negotiations.

IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT, for the authors and other "Iran's liberators", to publish those Rouhani's statements ???

as opposed to "selling iran down the tubes" to israel and america like pahlavi did?,the problem with draining them of all resources is that a great many innocent people are going to be hurt in the process,as they are being hurt right now by sanctions, but you either havent thought about that or more likely you just dont care, another thing you appear not to have given much thought or consideration too is what you would replace the existing government with, sadly liker a lot of malcontents everywhere your hatred for the system has blinded you to the point that all you care about is destroying it and to hell with the rest

So under your logic China who is doing business with Israel and America is a puppet and selling China down the drain? What is it with you basiji and apologists regarding doing business with the US and Israel? You people who support the regime so much instead of living in the west go and prove you're not hypocrites and live in China,North Korea,Cuba,Russia even in the islamic paradise of Iran.
Under previous regime Iran was economically very strong. It may not have had some political freedom but had social freedom. They did mistakes(no one is perfect) but unlike the present one the regime could have been reformed. The problem is that people try to compare Iran at that time to Denmark or Holland instead of Iraq,Soviet Union, Eastern Europe,Saudi Arabia. Compared to those countries Iran was free. That's the problem with some of the Ganzadeh brains that exist in Iran both then and today. Under islamic tyranny Iran has neither political freedom nor social freedom and is economically and socially morally retarded and bankrupt. You can spit and hiss as much as you like regarding the previous regime but at the end of the day history has proven reptillians like you indelibly wrong.

"So under your logic China who is doing business with Israel and America is a puppet and selling China down the drain?"
You were the one who said that the government was selling iran down the drain to china and russia, maybe you should recheck your logic
"but unlike the present one the regime could have been reformed"
Are you serious?,you could reform palavis absolute dictatorship?,and just how would you have done that?,you need to take off your rose tinted spectacles my pahlavi loving friend, irans current system may not be perfect, none is,but it has far greater room for development than pahlavis dictatorship ever could,I think you`d find that if given the choice between pahlavis "arab style dictatorship" or irans current system most would choose the current system,of course that doesnt mean there isnt room for improvement
"but at the end of the day history has proven reptillians like you indelibly wrong"
And just how has it done that?,all I see are some malcontents like yourself muttering about the good old days of pahlavi, how bad the current systems is and their hopes that somehow, they dont bother elaborating on that part,it will be destroyed and replaced with??,again they dont seem to have much of a clue what it will be replaced with just their hope that it will be

  2. I agree. Now is the time to allow Iran a chance to make an offer that will demonstrate a willingness to allow oversight and demonstrate that there will be no attempt to assemble nuclear weapons in the coming years.

There should be offers to ease the sanctions in return for that.

It's only if no such offer is made or deal reached in the next few weeks that it will be appropriate to increase sanctions.

  4. I think what we're witnessing is the US going through a strategic shift..Their antagonism with Iran has no rationality and doesn't serve their interest in the region other than that of Israel and the backward Arab monarchs...The US is tied of fighting other people's sectarian, tribal war...As the CIA predicted, the stolen land called Israel, will be no more in about 20-years from now.

They're NOTHING without America and they know it.

don't try pinning the rift on the USA...... it's that sour hate-filled old man who stoked hatred until he keeled over.

    3. So you're saying back in 1926 the US imposed Reza Shah on Iran? How dare Reza Shah try to modernize and save a backward country like Iran.We should have been left alone with a bunch of lazy Qajars and their ignorant fossilized Akhoond Gandzadeh.

Why don't you ask that stupid question from the thousands of families of imprisoned, raped and murdered victims of the terrorist regime? And when it comes to" thinking that far ahead",maybe you should start thinking ahead after your contract as a cyber basiji will be terminated in the near future.

So in other words you dont have a clue?you just hate it and want it destroyed and will be happy with anything else that comes along in its place?
