U.S. Resolve on Iran Not Affected by Syria Accord - Kerry

Secretary of State John F. Kerry said today the agreement with Russia on destroying Syria’s chemical arsenal does not diminish American resolve to prevent Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon. Kerry made the comments during a short stop in Jerusalem to brief Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the Syrian agreement.

President Obama had earlier said in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that Iran recognizes it shouldn’t draw the wrong conclusion because he made the decision not to launch a missile strike against Syria. Obama called Iran’s nuclear program “a far larger issue” and the threat to Israel of a nuclear Iran “much closer to (U.S.) core interests.” (Washington Post, 15 September)

“My suspicion is that the Iranians recognize they shouldn’t draw a lesson that we haven’t struck [Syria] to think we won’t strike Iran,” Obama said.

  1. Making threats of war against another nation is a violation of the U.N. charter.

  2. The cowardly U.S.'s empty 'barking' will no longer be a real 'threat' to the great nation of IRAN after 34 long wasting years.
