Russia Reported Ready to Deliver S-300 to Iran; And Kremlin’s Denial

Russian daily Kommersant reported today that the Kremlin has decided to go ahead with the sale of its advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to Iran, reversing a decision made three years ago by then-President Dmitry Medvedev. The Kremlin issued a terse denial, saying that Mr. Putin did not give orders to prepare a new S-300 deal with Iran. (The Christian Science Monitor, 11 September).
S-300 is one the most sophisticated missile defense systems in the world, and its delivery to Iran could give the country a major capability to defend against air strikes.

  1. This whole charade is a worn story, akin to a broken record, that is pulled out of the dustbin whenever it suites Russian interests.

    1. Russians won't dare do anything due to all the restrictions put on it. Just recently the floating Russian buckets which have been positioned at the Syrian coast have been forced to step aside for the US fleet, which is preparing to wipe out the Syrian military. The Russians will only be watching. They are scared as hell of the only true Superpower, the USA.

    2. they aren't scared as hell of anything, since they are actually the only country in the world to possess a full range of weaponry able to fully defeat every kind of surface and subsurface asset at the US's 5th fleet disposal, from submarine-laucnhed supersonic missiles that are able to cut an aircraft carrier in one shot by sprinting on it out of the water at the last moment, weapon against which current USN ships have no credible defense (hence its NATO surnames 3M-54 Klub "Sizzler", to upcoming S-400s able to defeat an F-16/F-18 type fighter at 400km+ ranges, or their specialized anti-ship assault squadrons of Su-xx type long-range fighter-bombers equipped with hypersonic Brahmos anti-ship missiles they can fire in salvos, supported by formations of Tupolev supersonic strategic bombers able to unleash a volley of 2000km+ range KH-55 cruise missiles. Since Putin's come to power, they've restarted regular, massive exercises precisely to obliterate as many USN targets as possible in an open-conflict and American planners are well aware of that. Pentagon actually releases regular reports about the many vulnerabilities their fleet would have against Russian (and more recently, also chinese) assets during a theoretical all-out war. Do a little research before spitting out your most flattering and childish comments to your american idols. Have you ever wondered why the White House always finds itself in such a panicky hysteria whenever the shadow of one of its enemies being armed with the best Russian weapons available comes to the picture again ? I would say they are the ones who are scared as hell anyone could finally lay their hands on some technology nullifying the effectiveness of their aggressive assets that is the air force. The USN has never gone against ONE SINGLE foe worthy of significant attention in terms of conventional military strengths, so in the best case, there is no way to even gauge its prowess in the event they finally go up against a well-armed counterpart. Russia has spent half a century finding ways to defeat American technologies, Vietnam is a living example, a third-world country with a fraction of USSR's capability, barely a miniature air-force and second-hand SA-2s were able to kill 2500+ aircraft and helicopters out of the sky in the years-long war against America who went with its full might, bombing the country to pieces to submit it. The ONLY reason why the russian fleet would not stand in the way of the USN is that Syria , while its most important ally in the ME, does not fall within the scope of their "inner circle" encompassing states like Ukraine or Georgia, a near-NATO member when they destroyed its military in a 3-day strike, with no second thoughts about upsetting then hyper-aggressive Bush and its NATO allies, although risking being technically at war with them in the process. Still believing they stand aside because they ... are "scared as hell" of the mighty USA ??? isn't that one getting a little old to you ? Obama seems to be quite happy with the opportunity Putin handed over to him not to bomb even Syria anyway man, get a hint already. Key words are : decline, economy, re-emerging powers, BRICS, 21st century. And not 80s, Reagan, 90s, or Clinton anymore.

    3. They haven't stepped aside, come on... they weren't ever deployed in a defensive posture to begin with, they just ferried on reinforced patrols to form a permanent battle group at Tartus, which is policy of rapprochement with Syria in times of crisis. political considerations, not actual combat deployment. And USN ships won't be closing in at Syria shores defended by an umbrella of P-800 anti-ship missiles, they will fire at Tomahawk range, 1000 miles or so , far away from harms way, in all cowardly tradition, so there's no "clearing the way" for them". If Russians wanted to intercept american missiles they could do it right from where they already are positioned... its not the 17th century anymore, capital ships don't tangle at visual range to fire cannon balls lol

  2. Can one imagine how strong the great nation of IRAN's military power will possibly be if the real combination of the long-range air defense system of the Russian's advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, along with the great nation of IRAN's owned-version of domestically-built Bavar 373(which is about similar but instead, much more capable than the Russian's) comes into reality?

  3. LET SOMEONE shade some light here but it seems Israel wished to start the war on Syria as reported by a Russian source!-the two ballistic missiles fired by Israel in the Mediterranean and which was almost immediately intercepted by the USN anti missiles batteries was a cruel miscalculation on part of Israel or maybe was meant to taste RUSSIA. again the US was shocked to learn Russia was awake and monitoring the activity with open eyes-
is it this NOT one of the many reasons that made the drums of war to go silent!
