Sharif Declares Victory in Pakistani Elections

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif declared victory for his Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in today’s parliamentary elections in Pakistan. PLM-N is leading in 119 of the 272 National Assembly seats that were contested.

“Results are still coming in, but this much is confirmed: we're the single largest party so far,” Sharif said during a speech to jubilant supporters in Lahore on Saturday night.

Pakistanis directly elect 272 representatives for the National Assembly. An additional 70 seats -- 60 for women and 10 for non-Muslims - will be allocated on the basis of a party’s share in the directly elected seats.

Elections for four provincial assemblies were also held on the same day.

According to Pakistani Chief Election Commissioner Fakharuddin Ebrahim, turnout was about 60 percent, which is the highest since 1977.

  1. Looks like another bad news for the West and its supporters, because Mr. Sharif declared to end the cooperation with the US....

  2. In a recent PEW poll the general population of Pakistan in over 90% anti-US/Zionists and both Sharif and the runner-up Imran Khan have vowed to stop the daily drone murders of hapless Pakistani civilians and end military operations in the Pashtun tribal FATA areas adjoining Afghanistan. This is very bad news for US as now the Pakistani Pashtun (literally family members of Afghan tribes across the British imperialist artificial and non recognized Durand Line, named after a British major who drew it as a border to split the warlike Pashtuns-Iranic people) will join forces with the Afghan resistance which is already causing severe losses to US and its NATO stooges. Things always go against US/Zionist delusions of hegemony from Syria, Iraq to now Af-pak. Things in Pakistan are about to get interesting.
