Syrian Chemical Weapons in Headlines

By: Jabbar Fazeli, MD

The Boston globe vs Ettelaat

Boston globe: Dec 4,2012
"US says Syria signaling use of chemical weapons"

Ettelaat newspaper
Front page headline:

"Syria warns of (potential) use of chemical weapons by the opposition (rebels)"

Keep in mind that the "rebels" have no access to chemical weapons, and the government of Syria is in full control of its precious arsenal of chemical and biological weapons. That however doesn't stop the Ettelaat from insulting our collective intelligence.

  2. Jabbar, you are mistaken for sure. Turkey has supplied the mercenary Jihadis with the neccessary ingredients and instructions on how to prepare and blend the substances. The finished chemicals will then be put into all the ordinary munitions that they use. Footage has been put out showing containers labeled 'Tekkim', a Turkish manufacturer and laboratory.

They say they best lies are they ones you yourself believe to be true.
There is no way a NATO member turkey would give up control of chemical weapons to a rag tag rebel group that barely has any cohesive leadership. Try again!

    1. there's a big difference from supplying chemical munitions and supplying chemicals that can be used to fashion weapons.

there's ample evidence that the Syrian dictatorship has sophisticated chemical munitions, but no reason to think that the opposition would not fashion primitive ones.

      Thanks for reposting.

In response to your post, just because its on YouTube doesn't make it true. If you are going to challenge the common sense of million of people (outside of Iran) then you have to come up with something better than this.
The basics that you have to overcome are as follows:

      - No sane person outside of Syria with access to chemical weapons would see the wisdom in giving the rebels access to that technology. I assume the Saudies doesn't have chemical weapons, if they do then I stand corrected.

-The Syrian regime has not lost control of its chemical weapons. If it did, it means its has lost control of the country and the rebels don't need chemical weapons to gain the upper hand.

    2. What in the world are you on about? I'm not trying to come up with "something", that's an utterly proponderous assumption. The two paragrahps of yours are in no way 'basics'/'facts' in any way shape or form, they are only your opinions and frankly part of the ideas that you have raised make no true sense. Hence why i posted the links, because they might actually give one a clue on possible reasons for the supply of chemical weapons to the rebels.

    3. what about Iran-Iraq war. Do we know which country gave the chemical substances to Saddam? Germany? France? the west as whole? Why is so difficult to believe that rebels might have been supplied by the foreign powers.

  6. What is really insulting is the lack of the blog posters or imposters knowledge of weaponry and binary weapons. The weapons that the so-called FSA terrorists have can be obtained at any chemical plant, even though the are on controlled list. We are not talking about advanced nerve agents but crude terror weapons like Saddam used as mustard gas, phosphorous, Hydrochloric Acid etc. They have been supplied by Turkish chemical firms as reported on many western news media sites. Turkish
government has asked TEKKIM chemicals to supply the FSA and Jihadi terrorists a list of controlled chemicals that can be used to manufacture crude artillery fired chemical weapons. The FSA terrorists themselves boasted of having Turkish supplied chemical weapons. Perhaps, the one-dimensional simpleton who posted this "news' may try googling some basic facts or watching some of the FSA propaganda.

A recen video footage from December 5, 2012 shows what looks like a hardline Islamist member of al-Qaeda fighting alongside the “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) terrorists in Syria in a chemical laboratory performing an experiment using two rabbits whom he manages to kill in less than a minute via inhalation of a gas emanating from a chemical compound. He then threatens Alawites and government supporters with genocide using the same type of chemicals. The whole video has al-Qaeda Jihadist music playing in the background, music that calls for killing of infidels and oppressors.

The video starts by showing quite large amounts of industrial size packages of various chemicals such as Potassium Permanganate, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Chlorate, Sodium Nitrite, Acetone, and others. According to the labels, most of the chemicals are sourced from the Turkish company Tekkim (http://www.tekkim.com.tr).

Some basic chemical lab apparatus is shown, and a masked man is preparing a chemical compound in a glass beaker heated by a Bunsen burner.

More chemicals, Hydrochloric Acid is one of them, with several dozen bottles of each kind are shown. A poster on the wall, mostly in Arabic, says “Chemical Brigade of ‘al-Reeh al-Sarsar’. Also in Arabic, what looks like a Quranic verse is displayed at the bottom. The poster also says “Danger” and “Wind Isber Chemical Inscription”.

Two rabbits in a large glass cage are then shown. There is a glass flask with some chemical in the cage. The masked man pours the prepared chemical compound from a graduated cylinder into the flask and closes the top of the cage. A reaction appears to create some white and heavy smoke. After two minutes and some convulsions, the rabbits die from inhalation of the lethal gas.

    1. Awesome post!

Tell that to the "all-knowing" doc, who hastily call people liars, and then gets a lesson on factual reality. Laughable!!!

It doesn't take chemicals weapons expertise to recognize BS.
Unless you have some US veteran chemical weapons experts to show case, as the cyber basij has done in the past, I suggest you provide the "world" with conclusive evidence that the rebels somehow acquired chemical weapons and somehow they deemed it proudest to use those weapons, despite western aversion to human rights violations in Syria.

There is one reason, and one reason only, for the Iranian and Syrian propaganda to propagate such nonsense propaganda about the rebels having access to chemical weapons, and that is that if and when the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons then it can blame the use on the rebels and absolve itself from responsibility, the problem is that the world is not as "stupid" as the Iranian and Syrian regime think we are.

    3. For christ sakes Jabbar, you are totally out of touch with reality and facts on the ground! Plus you seem to have a bad habit of censoring fair comments, not allowing them to be seen. We all thought that you were a staunch supporter of democratic principles...

  8. The so-called "Doctor" seems to have missed "skool" during Chemistry 101 and shows more ignorance than a Beverly Hills drame queen teen at a drug infused prom night. The FACTS are not very welcome on this one-dimensional blog with very thin-skinned censorship queens. I wonder if these people even knew what freedom of the press and democracy mean. QUIT CENSORING sensible comments and grow-up PLEASE.
