Iran Warships Dock in Port Sudan

Iran’s 23rd Fleet warships, IRIS Jamaran (76), a guided missile frigate and IRIS Bushehr (422), a replenishment ship, docked in Port Sudan today, making the second port call by the Iranian navy in Sudan in five days. A Sudanese navy spokesman said the visit was a normal port call. In a welcoming ceremony, Rear Admiral Abdullah al-Matri of Sudan called for “further expansion of military ties between Iran and Sudan.” (Fars News Agency/Press TV, 8 December)

Israel and the GCC are following the visit closely. Israel has expressed concerns of Iranian arms shipment to militant groups in Gaza through Sudan.

The GCC, particularly the Saudis, have their own concerns of closer ties between Tehran and Khartoum. After South Sudan broke away to become independent last year, Sudan lost three quarters of its oil production and began seeking bolstering its ties with Saudi Arabia and other Arab states in the Persian Gulf. Gulf states are now among the biggest investors in the country and have just funded a large sugar plant and Sudan's only shopping mall. But the close ties with Tehran, manifested today by Iranian navy’s port call, could make it difficult for Khartoum to expand its relations with the Gulf Arab states.

The mullahcracies days are numbered and their stance is looking more desperate each and every day.
Having Sudan as an ally just shows how pathetic the Islamic regime is.
Assad is finished and his regime is heading to hell where his chums the mullahs will soon be joining him.LOL!

  3. It looks like Iran found a new way to ship weapons to rogue states. This visit is really a supply ship with navy escort given the recurrence and timing. Question is whether an Israeli attack on the unloaded military supplies will follow.

Right, Mr Fantasist, that's why the mercenary Jihadis can not do anything but roam the countryside like the true bandits that they are and enter villages to massacre civilan Alawites, Christians, Druses and Shi'ites. They haven't really got anywhere since they started fighting. They cannot occupy and control any urban centers, only infiltrate whereby they get defeated and driven out whereafter they disperse into the countryside to regroup and replace their casualties with more paid Islamists shipped in from all across the globe. The Syrian Arab Army, especially its Republican Guard is highly professional and is the best trained and led out of all Arab armies. Their officer core is exclusively loyal Alawites, and the best there is in the Arab world, as recognised by high-ranking former members of the U.S. military.

  10. Anon 2:32 AM,

You are right, Jamaran’s is 76. We had it right under photo credit, but not in the main text. It is corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. And my apologies to all for the mistake
