Iran Vows to Pursue Uranium Enrichment Program

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Director Fereidoon Abbasi vowed today that Iran will “decisively” continue uranium enrichment.
“Despite the sanctions, it is more likely that we will have a considerable growth in the (operation of) centrifuge machines this year and we will continue (uranium) enrichment decisively,” Abbasi said. (IRIB, 28 November)
Abbasi also announced that the work at Arak heavy water reactor is advancing on schedule.
“I determinedly announce that the (work in) the Arak reactor plant is advancing according to the schedule and without any problem,” he said. “All the equipment which are needed for the preparation of the reactor have been purchased from the market." (Mehr News Agency, 28 November)
The semi-official ISNA news agency also reported today that Iran has reloaded fuel in Bushehr nuclear power plant after a temporary removal of it. The IAEA had said in a report that Iran unloaded fuel from the reactor core of Bushehr power plant in October. Abbasi said today that all problems at Bushehr have been resolved and he expects the power reactor to go operational soon.

  1. Obviously Iran will pursue all its national goals. The nuclear program is a major UNITING factor amongst Iranians and a matter of national honour and pride. Does anyone in their right mind think that Iran will backdown since now all hollow threats have been exposed and the nuclear train has left the station a long time ago. All aboard!

  3. Good analysis from an Iranian perspective.

Gaza War may strengthen Iran's hand
    By Kaveh L Afrasiabi

NEW YORK - Now that the dust of the eight-day Gaza war has settled, the war's shift of geostrategic fortune in favor of Hamas's Iranian military patron state is rather unmistakable. Israeli leaders may publicly boast of inflicting heavy damage to Hamas's rocket capability, yet the fact remains that they failed to reach their ultimate objective of dismantling that capability, which is sure to be replenished and strengthened in the months to come.

Hamas's impressive rocket capability, which withstood the onslaught of some 1,500 sorties by Israeli jet fighters unloading their bombs in the densely populated area, and the failure of Israel's "iron dome" interceptors to prevent some 420 rockets from landing inside Israel, reflects a new "balance of terror" that chips away at the Tel Aviv's traditional military supremacy.

Indeed, this much can be surmised from the statement of Ali Baqeri, the undersecretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council:
When the Zionist regime can't stand the resistance in the blockaded Gaza strip, it is clear that it will definitely have nothing to say when it comes to the power and strength of the Islamic Republic.

The question is, of course, whether the Western negotiators are willing to take into consideration the strengthening of Iran's bargaining position as a result of the Gaza war, which has dampened the mood for a military strike on Iran. If so, then, how will this translate into a greater willingness to make concessions on the Iran sanctions, compared with previous rounds when the Western governments refused to consider a softening of sanctions even if Iran agreed to stop the 20% enrichment,

  4. The US needs to realize that you can't negotiate with Iranians. They're liars, cheats, sneaks. It's like a bazaar.

However, Iranians are also stupid people who can't engineer adequate defense systems, and thus the US could very easily bomb these sites. That's how you treat an Iranian - with force.

  5. lol @ 7:32

1,000 Iranian missiles caused virtually no damage. Iranian missiles are literally so inept they can't hit anything!

Meanwhile Israeli/American bombers destroyed every target they wanted to destroy in Gaza, and Israeli/American missiles are so capable that they destroyed almost every Iranian missile WHILE IT WAS IN THE AIR.

It will be so hilarious to see the delusions from dumb Iranians when the US starts bombing Iran.

  8. There's a bit of idiotic comment denigrating all Iranians on this thread and it's rather swinish.

It's sufficiently gross that this site often prints comments slandering Jews.

Let us avoid any more of this

  9. Iran and Iranian Culture have been around for thousands of years, It has contributed to humanity in science, literature, art, and Mathematics over centuries and Iranian People will continue this proud tradition of their parents to the future. I have no doubt Iran and Iranian culture will out live a few haters who post unintelligent and illogical comments on this board.

  13. It is Rather sad to see when stating facts about Iranian culture and achievements in past thousands of years then you get Labeled. Commentator Jaber Fazeli either have extreme ignorance about Iran's history or have little talent on carrying on a civilized discussion, either not good.

If the the Iranian culture has been around for thousands of years as you claim. Then why the hell have the people of Iran allowing to be ruled by a bunch of backward savages?

In any civilized country by now a regime such as the one in Iran would have been overthrown a long time ago.

  16. Dictatorships exist and are part of any culture. Political leaders come and go but cultures, Art, Literature, and Math and Sciences can exist and sometimes flourish even during Dictatorships and not so civilized political leaders. This is just a fact and part of human history.
