USS John C. Stennis Returning To Persian Gulf

Reports published on military news sites indicate that the U.S. Navy will deploy aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) to the Persian Gulf/Arabian Sea in late August, joining USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Enterprise already deployed to the region. The Stennis had left the Gulf last March, and was singled out by Iran’s military commander who threatened it not to return to the region.

The presence of three aircraft carriers in the region is a rare occurrence. The Navy has also doubled the number of minesweepers in the region, to eight, and moved a converted amphibious transport and docking ship, the USS Ponce, into the Persian Gulf to serve as a floating staging base.

  1. That's the trouble with these forms of lines in the sand and threats. They seem quite empty when the line is crossed.

It's happening now to the Artesh Commander and his threat from earlier in the year, where during the previous U.S. administration a line in the sand was drawn over Iran enriching uranium which was not only achieved but now stands at 20%.

Hopefully some day soon sanity will prevail and these rising tensions will be wiped away by a normalization of relations. But until that moment is achieved, we'll have to endure more of these these threats and counter-threats, taunts and counter-taunts, from either directions.

  2. The Mullahs will be wiped away if they keep this shit up much longer. Decisions have probably already been made in the US, it's a matter of politics now.

  3. Pentagon admits Iran's improved missiles present 'formidable force'
    Ynetnews, 11 July 2012

WASHINGTON, Jul 11: The Iranian army is continuing to improve the accuracy and destructive power of its long-and-short-range ballistic missile force, according to a Pentagon report that was submitted to the US Congress.

The report, which was obtained by Bloomberg News, said that as part of the improvements, Iran's military is designing a maneuvering weapon to target vessels.

The June 29 report, which was signed by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, states that Tehran "has boosted the lethality and effectiveness of existing systems by improving accuracy and developing new submunition payloads" that extend the destructive power over a broader area than a solid warhead.

According to Bloomberg, the report found that the improvements are in tandem with routine ballistic- missile training that "continues throughout the country" and the addition of "new ships and submarines."

Even if Iran will be temporaliry destroyed; in hypotetical nearest aggression, - the future will belong to Iran !!! Khamanei and top iranian leadership is more enlightened than those of western ones. Current false claims against Iran are designed to prevent it to become a dominant power in the Middle East or Persian Gulf. Even if Iran would compromise now, the western hypocrites would drag in the future their blackmail over other issues such as the Iranian Persian Gulf islands, Azerbaidjani rights to Caspian Sea, rights of ethnic minorities to separation as well as rights of "pornography and other vice lovers" in Iran. Russia will have to help Iran sooner or later and sell armament and technologies like it did with India. At present, Iran have to buy a time (like it so far luckily gets), speed up implementation of its ( a total development) 5 year air defense program and may consider to temporarily (for couple years?) suspend its 20 procent enrichment...

It's alright as long as the US can test the accuracy of their missiles on Iran's entire military infrastructure.
