Ahmadinejad to Retire from Politics

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an interview with Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that he would retire from politics after his second term in 2013. He added that he was planning to return to academia. Ahmadinejad holds a doctorate in engineering.

“Eight years is enough,” Ahmadinejad said in the interview that will be published on Sunday [AFP, 16 June].

  1. In answering couple of emails from our readers: Mr. Ahmadinejad is not eligible to run for a third consecutive term as president. However, he can run in 2017. No public opinion poll on his approval rating is available, but it is believed that his popularity has risen during his second term as his relationship with the country’s supreme leader and the political establishment has increasingly become contentious.

  2. Ahmadi said that he will not run like Putin for a third time in 2017; he said that he will not form a political party or group

  3. I make a prediction here on Uskowi On Iran. If Mr Ahmadinejad decides to run for president in 2017 when he will be qualified to do so again, he will win with a large majority again no matter who runs against him (be it the incumbent or a new comer)and as long as the votes of ordinary Iranians count.

That's the problem you see Ahmadinejad is no Putin because he doesn't hold the real power. Khamenei does and it is Khamenei that will decide who ever will become President.
    Not the ordinary Iranians.
Wake up! Iran is a religious dictatorship.

  7. What is the difference if Ahmadi or any other idiot that comes from that cursed theocracy is chosen to be president?
The country has been run into the ground and surrounded on all sides by countries that have overtaken it on the economical and military front and people are debating which cretin of the theocracy is chosen as president.

  8. The people woh says "president has no real power " and Ayatollah Khameni has only the power are wrong, they did not understood iranian system.

Khamenie ist not an autocrat like Shaha to rule the countgry alone, he needs a functioning government, with a president and a functioning paralament.

in a country with 3000 years of absolut monarchie and lack of Demokratie culture, you need a man who has the last word, unless you will get chaos in the country

With due respect you are talking from your backside. We know how the "system"works in Iran with this theocracy.
The theocracy is just that, rule by the velayat-e-faqih nothing more nothing less.Anybody thinks otherwise is a complete cretin.
And the Shah was an autocrat but not a bloodthirsty ideological fascist dictator like that liar Khomeini or his crippled successor Khamenei.
Prime minister Bakhtiar was the only man that stood up against the mullahs and foresaw the plight of Iran under the terrorist mullahs.History has proven him correct.Neither you nor anybody body else can change those facts.

  10. Anon 11:26 AM.........You contradict yourself. You say the Shah was a autocrat while at the same time you say Khamenei needs to say the last word or else the country will fall into chaos.
So some of the Iranian people naively asked the Shah to leave and in its place a bitter old man who hated Iran and wanted power for himself and his cronies to rule Iran in the name of Allah under a medieval dictatorship.
And that is perfectly alright by you.
Ferdowsi warned the Iranian people a 1000 years ago about the pulpit replacing the throne and that's what has happened.
Anon 2:46 PM....I agree what you said about Bahktiar. If only people listened to him instead of those idiots.
As for Ahmadinejad retiring it won't make a deference. It has to be the Islamic dictatorship that has to totally retire so that Iran will be free.

  11. It's funny when they call the Shah a dictator yet the filthy Rozeh Khun and his bloodthirsty offspring is a democrat!
These are the types of unbelievable people which the fascist Islamic cult has brainwashed to spew their cretinous rubbish on these types of sites.
You mullah boys are not believed for one second because we know the types of liars you people are.
Now go and receive your weekly Sandist you traitors to the Iranian people.
