Iran Halts Oil Sales to UK, France

Britain Warns Israel against Attack on Iran

Iran’s oil ministry announced today that it has stopped oil sales to British and French companies as British Foreign Secretary William Hague publicly warned Israel that military action against Iran ‘would not be wise.’

“Exporting crude to British and French companies has been stopped,” said oil ministry spokesman Ali Reza Nikzad-Rahbar. “Iran has no difficulty in selling and exporting its crude oil... We shall sell to new customers, who will replace French and UK companies,” he added [IRNA, 19 February].

Meanwhile in London, the British foreign secretary told the BBC that a nuclear-armed Iran would result in another cold war in the Middle East, but he urged against military action.

“They (Iran) would either be attacked and there would be a war, or there would be a cold war in which Iran for the long term would be subject to these very intense economic sanctions and they would find that other nations in their region developed nuclear weapons,” Hague said.

“I don’t think a wise thing at this moment is for Israel to launch a military attack on Iran,” Hague added. “I think Israel like everyone else in the world should be giving a real chance to the approach we have adopted on very serious economic sanctions and economic pressure and the readiness to negotiate with Iran… That’s what we need to make a success of.” [The Mail, 19 February].

  1. From the stand point of Iran, this is cost free as it would constitute less than 1% of iran's oil exports, but from the stand point of the west it is yet another example of Iran breaking existing contracts and having no regards to its commitments.
Please note that the European sanctions did not call for termination of existing contracts, hence allowing till July for companies to implement sanctions.
Btw, non of this would have been possible if Iran hadn't invaded the British embassy compounds.

  3. They are just playing the game of LAJBAZI.That is just a way to say we got there first.Basically they are committing suicide faster.
Which in the long term is very good for Iranian people.

  4. The UK hasn't imported Iranian oil in 6 months and it only constitutes about 3% of French imports. No big deal...let's play the game...

  5. Vindicated. Slowly, but surely, the west is beginning to acknowledge the obvious - a nuclear Iran (2+ years in the making).

Having sent a warining shot to EU/UK/Fr., the Majlis must now pass an 'Intellectual Property infringement right' bill! This anti-sanction law should just state:

    (1) FOR HOSTILE COUNTRIES WHO HAVE FROZEN THE ASSETS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF IRAN AND/OR CURTAILED THE OPERATION AND VIABILITY OF THE CBI WITHIN THEIR JURISDICTION, THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES OF YOUR INDIGEN ENTITIES ARE HEREBY NULL AND VOID WITHIN THE JURISPRUDENCE OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN.
    (2) AS FOR THOSE NATIONS WHO HAVE FORSAKEN THE IMPORTATION OF IRANIAN OIL …

If such a double-urgency bill is enacted, the west would be forced back to a new negotiating table where their 'other options' would be tabled by their own commercial interests.

    2Cold.
