Growing Tensions in Iran-UAE Relations

The Iranian parliament, Majlis, will vote on a bill downgrading Iran’s relations with the UAE. The bill, introduced at the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis, calls the “insulting attitude toward Iranians travelling to the UAE” as “unacceptable.”

“The nature of Iran's trade relations with the Emirates is to the benefit of the UAE and in return their treatment of the citizens of our country is absolutely unacceptable,” Commission member Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said.

The action in Majlis came amid sharp criticism by senior Iranian officials of UAE’s decision to construct artificial islands on the Persian Gulf. On Monday, IRGC Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior military adviser to the Supreme Leader, described the construction of the islands as “illegal.”

Iran’s main concern is that the artificial islands would reduce by 10 kilometers the distance between the UAE mainland and Abu Musa, an Iranian island also claimed by UAE, changing the coastal borders between the two countries.

  1. UAE is getting to "big" for its puny size and strutting at behest of its imperilaist masters. UAE is a totally artificial imperiliast creation by the then departing imperialst power UK in 1971 when there was a power vacuum in the Persian Gulf and the puppet "shah" got cold feet and did not take over historically Iranian Bahrain and the trucial southern Persian Gulf coast which always has been a Persian Sphere of influence. Historically even the erstwhile imperialist naval powers like Portugal, UK and even France recognized Iran's historical, cultural, linguisitic and demographic (religious/ethno) links to the Southern Persian Gulf coast of the Hejaz peninsula. The Shia unrest in most of al-Saud family occupied Hejaz is reflective of these articficially imposed imperialst outposts like "UAE", Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the most rooten apple "Saudi Arabai" ( a corrupt family enterprise gas station franchise of US).

The Brits in their infinite scheming and evil "divide and rule" created this horrendous and corrupt oil pimpdom to serve their interests in the long run. UAE is mostly a military outpost for US, Britain,France and even third rate "western" puppets like Canada and Australia. UAE's eventual fate will not be pleasant as the local bedouins living on oil resource plunder largesse and in ignorant bliss will sooner or later have to face a "oil less" future and demographic nightmare.

Iran, the predominant Persian Gulf power since three millenium will always be around, while their "western" overlords will fade into sunset. UAE petro-pimps living in worthless glass towers built on the sweat and blood of Indian and South Asian labour should be careful not to get too carried away with shallow arrogance. Artifical cities buily on shifting Arabian sands are indeed very unstable and so are the artificial ponzi scheme "islands" being built in the Persian Gulf.

Strategic wisdom dictates that Iran is surely a rising sunrise power and alienatiing a largely peaceful regional giant is not prudent. The Arab sheikhs would be better served sticking to abusing boy camel jockeys in Dubai camel races and falconry in shifting sands while driving their range rovers into the sand dunes.
