  1. Interesting to see the wide-array of weaponry in the skilled hands of the Sepah. The M-47 Dragon ATGM was a surprise. I believe that the Sepah will give a very good account of its asymmentrical warfare capabilities if Iran is ever challenged.

  2. This is a related news item and quite accurate. Iran has indeed started producing flight simulators for the over 200 Cobra AH-IJ and the local derivative the Iranian manuafactured Toofan attack helicopter. For historical reference, the IRIAA (Havanirooz) base at Kermanshah (Bakhtaran) is the second largest rotary aircraft base in Iran after the mega-Badr base at Esfahan also known as Helo-City.

Kermanshah was pivotal during the Jange-Tahmili and at one stage Bakhtaran, formerly Kermanshah, (TAB-5) - was the largest Army helicopter base, housing some 300 choppers of different types. Today it consists of repair, overhaul and remanufacturing facilities for various helicopters, fixed wing and UAV repairs. Most of the base and facilities are underground or dispersed in the hilly terrain with extensive tunelling.

There is also a large missile base nearby.

Army Starts Using Home-Made Cobra Simulators

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Army started using two home-made Cobra Chopper simulators in an airborne base in western Iran on Tuesday.

The simulators were officially unveiled in an Army Airborne Base in Iran's western city of Kermanshah in a ceremony attended by Iranian Army Airborne Commander General Kiomarth Ahadi.

Addressing the ceremony, General Ahadi reminded the advantages of the Iran-made simulators, and stated that simulators will lower devaluation, human and financial losses and training costs while increasing pilots' experience.

Iran's airborne units had earlier built simulators for chopper 206 in 2007, the first home-made mobile helicopter simulator which is still in use for training operations.

Ahadi had said in February that all the airborne bases of the Iranian army were equipped with flight simulators.

"All airborne bases have been equipped with flight training simulator systems," Iranian Army Airborne Commander General Kiomarth Ahadi told FNA at the time.

"Our experts are producing well-equipped and non-static simulators for other types of choppers at present," Ahadi concluded.

  3. This is second rate warfare compared to the real military might in the middle east... Israel. This isn't based on guns or rockets, it's based on the fact that the Creator of the Universe, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob stands next to Israel and will put hooks in the jaws of Russia and Iran along with all the other muslim countries who will try and attack Israel in their time of peace. The Creator will drive back these enemies and create chaos which will allow the enemy to turn on themselves and annihilate each other and will also send plagues and torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur from the heavens to show his greatness and holiness. All the weapons of mass destruction in the world couldn't help Iran at this time in history. And I believe Iran's worst enemies are not the US or Israel... it's the millions of people who hate their own Iranian regime... the common people who want to take their country back from the terrorists.

Just to put into perceptive your heroic IDF, here is a conversation between 2 extreme Zionist regarding the 2006 Zionist war

HBJ: "but Mr.Ambassador, I thought the war would stop only if Hezbollah is either crushed, or surrenders its weapons!?"
Bolton: "well, our friends in Israel asked us to stop hostilities because their continuation would be a 'catastrophy',..."

Amazing how nobody is afraid of paper tigers no more! Keep up the defence Iran, them Zionists are truly delusioned and crazy

  5. The Zionists are not faring too well these days, even against the weak Lebanese army they came out second best yesterday, losing a colonel and a captain gravely wounded in a confrontation they initiated.

I would agree with the poster above, no one is afraid of PAPER TIGERS anymore. The Zionists had built a false image of their supposed "invincibility" against unarmed Palestinian women and children unable to fight back against latest US taxpayer funded 21st century weaponry.

However, when faced with well trained and determined Hezbollah fighters in 2006, the Hollywood Zionist myth collapased. I wonder how they would fare against 76 million Iranians who have better weapons than merely stones and rocks in the hands of Palestinian children?

The most moving and psychologically uplifting photographic image of this century is that of a brave Palestinian teenager armed with a sling confronting a Zionist Merkava tank, totally unafraid and standing his ground. That is the daunting image of human spirit that haunts the Zionists and all bullies. Iranian defence of their ancient homeland would be no different.

  6. Everyone has the right to defend themselves including Iran and Israel. The real motivation and this comes directly from the mouth of ahmadinajad
is that they want to wipe Israel off the map especially concerning nuclear weapons. This guy is delusional and dangerous and if he kills his own people, there is no telling what he will do to other nations if he has a bomb. If Israel sees 76 million Iranians heading towards Israeli borders or is attacked by massive surface to air missiles a simple push of a button called the Sampson effect will wipe them all off the face of the earth. Meanwhile, the world will not allow another Hitler with a nuclear bomb to arise in the middle east. The world has realized that it is better off taking out ahmadinajad's nuclear attemps than to live in a world where he actually has them.

  7. Various reports of this news came about a few months ago as the 6 new batteries Iranian upgraded S-300 were deployed in March. These missiles came via Belarus and Croatia. Even though FARS news and Iranian sources only acknowledge 4 batteries, the real number is 6 or perhaps closer to 9.

    Iran 'has new surface-to-air-missiles'

    AP
Iran has obtained four S-300 surface-to-air missiles despite Russia's refusal to deliver them to Tehran under a valid contract, a semi-official Iranian news agency claimed today.

The Fars news agency, which has ties to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard, Iran's most powerful military force, said Iran received two missiles from Belarus and two others from another unspecified source.

Russia signed a contract in 2007 to sell S-300 missiles to Iran, a move that would have substantially boosted the country's defence capacities. Israel fears that supplying S-300s to Iran would change the military balance in the Middle East.

The S-300 anti-aircraft missile defence system is capable of shooting down aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missile warheads at ranges of over 90 miles and at altitudes of about 90,000 feet.

Russia said in June that the new UN Security Council sanctions against Iran prevent Russia from delivering the missiles but Tehran insisted that Moscow is under an obligation to carry out the contract.

The agency said Iran's possession of the missiles was revealed for the first time last year by Al-Menar TV, which is affiliated the Iranian-backed Islamic militant Hezbollah group in Lebanon. Fars said Iranian government officials never denied the report. It added that Iran may try to start building the missiles itself.

Russia is in a difficult position in the international stand-off with Iran, in part because it does not want to jeopardise decades of political and trade ties with the Islamic republic. Still, Moscow has recently shown increasing frustration with Iran, and last month backed the new sanctions.

Tehran insists its nuclear work is only for generating power and other peaceful uses. The US and its allies accuse Iran of using its civilian nuclear programme as a cover to develop atomic weapons.

Moscow has delivered other anti-aircraft systems to Tehran, such as the Tor-M1, which can hit aerial targets at up to 20,000 feet.

  8. Is it just me or is that RPG launcher under the barrel of an AK a really bad idea? An RPG-7 motor will easily melt automotive glass, what would that do to the shooter's hand holding the rifle?

  9. The RPG on the Ak-47 (AKM) is the Iranian designed Nader RPG 7VM warhead which is smaller than the original warhead and is almost recoilless with very little back-blast and quite accurate. These are produced by DIO (Defense industries organization)and the one in the photo appears to be most common RPG HEAT round, the PG-7VM. These types are normally assigned as close combat force-multiplier.

    Nader Specifications:
    Calibre: 70 mm

    Type: HEAT
    Velocity: 140 m/s

    Effective Range: 300 m

    Armor Penetration: 300 mm

A friend of mine was a Dragon gunner in the USMC in the 80s. He didn't have many good things to say of it.
