Iran's fighter defenses include the MiG-29A and MiG-29UB with local, Russian and Indian upgrades. There are unconfirmed reports that during the 1991 Gulf War, eight Iraqi MiG-29 pilots managed to flee to Iran where their aircraft now serve in the IRIAF.
