US Warns Iranian-Americans Against Travel to Iran

The US State Department today warned Iranian-Americans and other US citizens against travel to Iran. The State Department said in its statement that “some elements of the Iranian regime remain hostile to the United States. American citizens may be subject to harassment or arrest while traveling or residing in Iran.”

The warning came after the recent arrests by the ministry of intelligence of four Iranian-Americans: Nazee Azima, Haleh Esfandiari, Kian Tajbakhsh and Ali Shakeri. A growing number of academic and human rights organizations in the US has called for the immediate release of Iranian-American detainees.
