Iran Sends Monkey to Space – Video

Iran said it has sent a monkey to space in a move toward an eventual human space mission. In today’s experiment, Fargam the monkey reached the height of 120 km. After 15 minutes into the flight, the mission control released the monkey in a parachute capsule. Fargam the monkey was recovered safely. Scientists say they were measuring the monkey's physical state following the flight.  (IRIB, 14 December)

  2. What's funny is that this is supposed to scare the west into fearing Iran's ballistic missiles -- the west needs to wake up to the kind of scum they are dealing with and do to them what it did to Iraq, rather than wasting time.

    1. The fact that you think Iran and Iraq are comparable, destroys any credibility you might have had. Do yourself a favour and learn something about the world that wasn't told to you by American or zionist mainstream media.

They're not comparable at all -- look what Iraq did to Iran. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawakalna_ala_Allah_Operations

And here's what your murdering thieving terrorist leader said after Saddam put him in his place:

"Happy are those who have departed through martyrdom. Happy are those who have lost their lives in this convoy of light. Unhappy am I that I still survive and have drunk the poisoned chalice..."

You do realise that saddam failed to achieve even a single one of his military objectives, unless of course you count bankrupting his country as one of these, saddams only "success" was that he just managed to hold onto iraq and even then it took the support of the west, the soviets and the arabs to allow him to do that.Theres nothing for iraq to crow about the war with iran was a complete disaster for iraq and lead directly to saddam turning on kuwait and his humiliation at the hands of the coalition, tho` I suppose you think that was another great "iraqi victory" because saddam survived [by the skin of his teeth]

    5. Read the link above; he got everything he asked for in 1988 by beating the terrorist regime into submission. That's a fraction of what the west would do to Iran.

If that is your definition of military success, then I hate to see your definition of complete and utter failure.Saddam started a war of aggression that aimed to conquer parts of iran,in the end he gained no iranian territory,he bankrupted his nation and he was very fortunate to just survive, and all of this while having the support of the west, the soviets and the arabs,if you want to pretend that this is some sort of success instead of abject failure then be my guest but the only person you`re fooling is yourself, you probably believe that saddam won a stunning victory against the coalition in 1991 because they didnt bother going to baghdad to finish him off.The irony is that many people would agree that saddam did get "everything he asked for" both in 88 and 91,he got humiliating defeats

I've seen your comments a lot on this blog. You really try too hard, especially when you keep peddling the "poison chalice" quote, despite Saddam having numerical and technological superiority (for the most part) and not gaining a single inch of Iranian land. And now where is your Saddam and where is Iran? You hate terrorists, but praise Saddam! I know anger usually leads to irrationality, but you really take that cake.

If you are Iranian, then shame on you. You're on par with Rajavi cult leaders

    9. Iraq won in 1988 and lost in 1991. He took iran's "divine" leader and its "divine" military and beat them into a humiliating submission and drove 50 km into iran and could have driven more. Even the filthy terrorist thief Khomeini and rafsanjani admitted was a defeat.

In 1991 in a short period the u.s. crushed the army that had decimated iran in 1988.

Unfortunately Iranians don't learn from words and ideas because the regime and its supporters are inherently dishonest - which is great news for those wanting to see iran put in its place once more.

I really enjoyed seeing iran's economic less exposed via the sanctions. Maybe we'll get to see these liars get physically or into their place.

You keep on trying to portray this as tho 1988 was a separate war that had nothing to do with 80-87,you ignore the rest of the war and the fact that saddam had accepted the cease fire terms years before when his attempts to conquer iranian territory met with disaster, the only things that saddam achieved was the bankrupting and bleeding white of iraq,in 88 despite having the backing of the west and the soviets and the arabs he failed to achieve anything except his own survival,if thats your idea of a great victory then I`d hate to see your idea of a humiliating defeat,I`m amazed you`re even conceding that he was humiliated in 91,I`m amazed you`re not trying to portray that as a great victory. The simple truth is this saddam started two wars and was defeated in both, the fact that he was able to cling on to power does not negate his defeats at the hands of the iranians or the coalition

      Well said
I think this guy is probably a pissed of iraqi probably a baathist who has seen the total destruction of everything he held dear,he saw his country loose 3 wars, get occupied by the americans,,he had to watch iran go from strength to strength while sanctions and bombs decimated iraq, and now iraq is ruled by a shia government that is friendly to iran, under those very painful circumstances its not at all surprising that he is desperate to try and spin one part of the iran iraq war as some sort of victory for iraq, what he seems desperate to ignore is the fact that saddam "drunk the poisoned chalice" first,he wants to pretend that this is some iraqi victory against "iranian aggression" when it was the iraqis who started the war and failed to achieve even a single one of its war aims

    4. The reason the Russians and the US sent dogs and monkeys into space was to see if living creatures can survive in outer space. Now that has been proven, why repeat and waste resources trying to duplicate something achieved back in the 1950s?

Makes you wonder why the chinese have sent a rover to the moon when the russians did it forty years ago, right?
Its to show that you can,you moron, you dont just start out by sending people into space you start with animals, iran ultimately wants to send people, the first step is to send living creatures and to bring them back alive, iran has done this, good on them

  6. Iran’s ability to send Fargam the monkey 120 km into space was an important step in its space program; and a manifestation of the country’s ability to reach notable scientific achievements in a very difficult environment.
