Iran’s judiciary chief today accused opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karrubi of treason and vowed to block their ability to communicate with their supporters, effectively putting them under house arrest. On Monday, the opposition staged anti-government demonstrations in Tehran and other major cities, a move that angered the authorities. The conservative members of the Majlis have already called for the execution of Mousavi, Karrubi and former president Mohammad Khatami.
"The treason committed by the movement of sedition leaders is not hidden from anyone," Iran's chief of judiciary Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani said today. "This group which has rebelled against the religious government should know that while maintaining Islamic compassion we will not tolerate the establishment being compromised" [IRNA, 17 February].
"They (the people) should be certain that we will block the mechanism through which the sedition leaders issue their statements," Larijani added.

In "western" reports it is always said that Mousavi and Karrubi communicate through their websites. I wonder who really controls those websites, they are not in Iran, and if Mousavi and Karrubi really have any relation with what is posted on them.
If it is them who called for these protests, they are dumber than I thought.
Both their websites are London based and spew the usual anti-Iran vitriol. Most Iranians are getting tired of these two crazy ageing LOSERS. I believe they are insignificant anyway and giving them any importance is counter-productive. They will simply die away soon. The best thing to do would be to identify and go after the foreign paid violent thugs who murder Iranians and destroy public property. They should be identified by CCTV and video footage and then brought to justice.

I am not so much concerned about the end. The issues facing Iran are so complex that we cannot say with certainty what the future would bring. You guess is as good as anyone. However, I am very much concerned with the process. Calling former senior leaders of the Islamic Republic “traitors” is insane and comes from the ruling group’s deep insecurity about their own place in the society. The same process that makes Khatami, Mousavi and Karoubi traitors today, will make Ahmadinejads, Larijanis and Khameneis traitors tomorrow. This is not the way to run a government.
Pyruz should start his own blog, his posts are great, Uskowi on the other hand seems naive and gets fooled by a few thousand radical protestors.
